Less fatigue, improved mood, and improved motivation. All with a mere 2.5 mg. This is very good. I hope this doesn't poop out.

Thats great. Im finding it good too although im on 10mg (going up to 15 or 20mg soon) and also have to take benztropine to stop the akathisia and EPS I get from Abilify. But yea, I hope it doesnt poop out for you (or me lol).
Take care :)

Jeez, I'm jealous. It didn't do a thing for me at 20 mg., didn't notice any change when I dropped to 10 mg. I want to get off it. At least I'm not having any SE's.

Hi Ilene
When you say Abilify doesn't do a thing for you do you mean you can't notice it, or that it does nothing worthwhile, or something else?
I've never taken atypical APs and am a little interested in low dose amisulpride and maybe Abilify, but my experience with the older APs inclines me to caution.

That's good that it's working for you also. Since it's helping you, do you think you can keep it at 10 mg, or are you hoping for even more improvement at a higher dose?

Banga loves it too. She took 2.5mg for a while but it pooped out. She increased to 5mg and it's still working great :-)

That's interesting you stayed with the memantine.
I don't see anything that would raise pulse or blood pressure so the atenolol must be for anxiety. That's what I'm starting on now. Do you think you've found the right combination for you or are you going to be trialing some other meds too?

> That's interesting you stayed with the memantine.Yeah, it works. The problem with memantine was that I have a hard time tolerating more than 2.5 mg - brain fog, "wooden" feeling, feeling unwell. So I had incomplete remission from it because I can take only a limited dose.
> I don't see anything that would raise pulse or blood pressure so the atenolol must be for anxiety.
Yes it is. I find it helpful. My anxiety has always had a strong physiologic component. The abilify is activating and I think I'm going to need a slightly higher dose of atenolol now, which is fine - my dose is pretty low to start with. I hope it works for you.

I hate to jinx myself and be too optimistic here. Let me get back to you on that in a few weeks. :)
I think I'm going to have to do something about the insomnia from Abilify. I'm going to ask my pdoc tomorrow what she'd like me to use for sleep. Seroquel has helped me sleep in the past.emme

> JoshHi. My dose of atenolol has varied depending on what else I was taking - whether my other meds were sedating or activating, how well my anxiety was controlled by other meds. For a while it's been 12.5 mg in the morning. Lately I had been thinking I could maybe do away with it. But I'm finding the abilify is revving me up, so I'm going to keep it for now, either at 12.5 mg or 25. I've always taken it once, in the morning. But I haven't heard anything to indicate the dose couldn't be split into a morning and evening dose.

My fingers are crossed that this regimen (along with something to help you sleep) is all you need for a very long time.

Another thing, I experienced pretty bad akathisia with Abilify... do you think the atenolol might be helping prevent this some? Hope things continue to do well for you... I'd like to give Abilify another try in the future myself.

Dunno. I have actually used Abilify before, with a slightly different mix - I wasn't taking memantine at the time. I remember it made it hard to sit still. So far it's not bad this time. I have no way to tell if the atenolol prevented that from being worse because I've never taken it w/o atenolol.
> Hope things continue to do well for you... I'd like to give Abilify another try in the future myself.
Thanks, I do too. This is a second try for me. It was helpful last time, but the response seems even better this time. I'm hoping that with a slightly different mix, it might go the distance.

Hi Emme,
This is terrific news. How long have you been on the abilify?

I've been on it about a week and a half. Who knows? Maybe I'm jinxing myself by shouting about success so soon. I'll see if it continues. But having several good days in a row is an awfully nice change.
