Is Remeron good for anxiety?

Posted by 4WD on August 1, 2005, at 21:30:54

Will adding Remeron help combat the Lexapro induced startup anxiety? Or anxiety in general, for that matter. I can either take 15mg or 30mg.

Remeron is good for anxiety for a lot of people. The lower doses paradoxically cause more drowsiness. So if you take a low dose at night, it should also help with sleep.

Alternatively, I think that a lot of people take benzos during the first few weeks or so of starting an SSRI to combat the initial anxiety.

Do people become angry on Remeron? Think I've heard that.

I read that somewhere here, but it doesn't make me angry. Just hungrier.

I have quite a high opinion of Reneron/Mirtazapine

It didn't really make me irritable, even with Effexor
It didn't cause apaphy like SSRIs

It does cause a lot of sedation to begin with, due to the antihistamine effects, but for me it faded away
I found it very helpful intially, but only mildly helpfull for anxiety in the long term.

Some people have very good results, for example chrazychick
