You are not being either dim or interupting. Monotherapy means that you are only taking one medication for your symptoms. When people take more than one medication for a condition, it's called either poly-pharmacy or a drug cocktail, or augmentation. There are also some other terms for it.
For mental health conditions such as anxiety, depression, sleep problems, ADD, OCD, personality disorders, bipolar, etc many people take more than just one drug.

Hi Link,
I've been taking 80mg citalopram for the last few weeks, I'm down to 60mg now.

Thanks Bill.
Here in the UK everybody is in monotherapy - for some reason our GPs have a phobia against prescribing a combo of drugs!

Even here in the states, I think that pdocs tend to be more aggressive than gp's with combos. Fortunately, my GP is fearless. I am on a combo of Provigil (modafinil) 400mg and Lexapro (escitalopram) 15mg. Provigil alone wouldn't be enough for my depression. But Lexapro alone leaves me a bit too tired, and doesn't help enough with my ADD symptoms. The combo is very good so far. But I need to give it more time to see if it holds up before I declare victory.
