hey! I havent taken it, but as I understand it there are some definite upsides and cons. The biggest upside is that adrafanil is cheap...very, very cheap. Its also been on the market longer, so there's a larger body of accumulated research/clinical experience. On the downside, there have been some liver problems/abnormalities associated with adrafanil, so periodic tests are a good idea...this adds to the overall cost/inconvenience.

I took it for maybe 6 months at various doses. Some of the time I was also taking high dose Hydergine which may have affected things (is it supposed to block NE2 receptors or something like that?). Anyway I never had a problem with Hydergine, always liked it except that it aggravated insomnia for me.
One of the reported adverse effects of Adrafinil is "states of inner tension". In one meeting I found it really difficult to function. (which is why I took it). I wonder if I am averse to noradrenergic stimulants. Anyway I haven't taken it since. I don't have a problem with caffeine or small doses of amphetamine.

I took adrafanil for over a year a liked it. It made me more motivated and more social. The dose I liked best was one pill, 300mg, per day. Was also taking prozac and zyprexa. Adrafinil helped and went well with the combo.
Insomnia side effects went away after a few weeks. Explosive sudden diarrhea at random unexpected times is what made me quit. That went away completely after I stopped. When I did quit, there were no withdrawals at all. Zero.
Though you can feel adrafinil the first day, kind of like a mild stimulant, the good effects really take 2 to 4 weeks to show up. Good things like becoming more active, enjoying things more, and becoming more talkative, really take a few weeks to gradually show up. If that inner tension or uncomfortableness shows up, it just means the dose is too high.
I often contemplate going back on it. But if I did, I would cut the pills in half and just do 150mg per day.

That's interesting, blueberry. Maybe I shall try it again at a lower dose.

Why is it that some medications take time bnefore they have a full effect? I don't rerally understand how brains work and had only ever taken Adrafinil on an as-needed day per week basis.
