Hi,
After two years of trying different meds with no success apart from Zyprexa (which I keep for taking now and again as my Ace Card) the doctor finally let me try Nardil, which I took for about a Month and hated, then after a two week washout period he put me on a higher dose Seroxat.
This time on taking Seroxat I experienced no anxiety and it actually seemed to start helping after a couple of days. Now two years down the road it seems to have stopped working. Could there be anything in the fact that I had taken Nardil prior to going back on Seroxat or is this just me wishful thinking.
I was just wondering if anyone else had had a similar experience??
Kind Regards........Denise

Hi,
>Zyprexa
Does Zyprexa help your depression? If so, have you tried Seroquel and/or Abilify? Have you ever taken Zyprexa on a regular basis?

> Kind Regards........DeniseAlthough parnate and nardil are similiar, and some barly notice much differance, there are some who actualy do worse on nardil, and respond to parnate, and vice versa.
I speak to people via email,(appreciate their time) who slipped into a very depressive state on nardil, and parnate was the only thing to bring em back.
Dont know if u have already, but perhaps see if u can convince ur doc to try it,maybe parnate can restore u back to pre nardil and allow zyprexa to work,in fact the exact combo of zyprexa and parnate has been used often w success.

Hi Ed,
Just responded once but it doesn't seem to have appeared on the board so maybe it will appear twice later.
Anyway, just incase it doesnt the reason I won't take Zyprexa on a regular basis is that I see it as my ace card, my rainy day drug if you like. I'm terrified that if I take it continuously it will stop working on me and then I'll have nothing to fall back on.
Therefore, if I try ECT and it doesn't work at least then I'll know that hopefully Zyprexa will still help me and the consequences of ECT not working won't be so devastating.
You may think I'm being ungrateful when so many people can't even find one single drug to help them I just want to keep my options open.

Hi Willyee,
Parnate will probably be the next drug I try if ECT doesn't work.
Thanks for telling me this. I thought perhaps Nardil and Parnate had the same affects and I really hated Nardil, although I had no anxiety on it, I felt really spaced out and devoid of any motivation or emotions. Actually pretty much the way I'm feeling now on Mirtazapine and Seroxat.

Hi Denise,
Have you tried a range of atypical antipsychotics?? Seroquel or Abilify might be helpful.

PS. Parnate seems very different to Nardil for a lot of people. Perhaps you could try Parnate next if mirtazapine doesn't work out.

Well i obviously am not gonna mention names, but i speak to an individual who had equal success on both,MORE importantly i speak to an individual who left parnate which provided success, thining nardils profile sounded better,he said in a few weeks he spiraled into major depressive episiode again, and parnate after time was able to get him back on trach.I never lasted long on a nardil trial so i guess it would be unfrair for me to add the comment as well, but YESS its absolutly possable you will react to parnate as if it were a comptly different med, wish u the very best of luck.
This is the end of the thread.
