Anyone have experience that could compare zyprexa with Risperdal? Especially in regards to psychotic symptoms like paranoia and hallucenations as well as negative symptoms like blunted affect, etc.
I have to get off the zyprexa. It's causing Metabolic Syndrome. the only other AP (besides the typicals) I could try is Clozaril, but I can't afford the needed blood tests. I've tried every other atypical AP.

I've had good luck with Stelazine. It had zero side effects, although I only took it in a small dosage. I am on an atypical (well two of them) now, but I will always remember Stelazine fondly. It is not as bad as it sounds.

Hi,
Were you taking Stelazine for a psychotic disorder? What dose did you take? Why did you decide to swap to an atypical? Perhaps you were worried about tardive dyskinesia. Just curious :-)

Ed.

zyprexa seems to be the only medication that has helped at ALL with my wicked dysphoric mania and paranoia.
i tried risperdal at .5, 1 and 2mg i really didn't notice any help (however at the lowest dose i noticed i 'craved' cigarettes and about doubled my usage of them-probably just me thought). my doc didn't want to go higher than 2mg with me.
i'm at 10zyprexa and it's working well (if i'm good and take it) ;^)what is metabolic syndrome and should i be worried?

here is what Metabolic Syndrome basically is:

If you already have risk factors for this, then maybe it would be a concern.
