The weirdest thing happened today.
EVERY single morning since before Christmas, I wake up with that horrible "knot" in the pit of my stomach. It's that anxiety that feels like your insides are doing jumping jacks (which might explain the recent weight loss!).
Anyway, it's there EVERY morning. I dread falling asleep becuase I know what I'll wake up to.
So... they then tell me I am likely diabetic and I find out my blood sugar is on the low side in the morning. Not necesarrily REALLY low but between 65-75.
They've had me on Klonopin (.25 twice a day) for about 5 weeks now. I decided on my own to not take it for a few days ( I weaned down to like .12 once a day so I wouldn't wig out)..
Anyway, I woke up this morning and for the first time in 3 months, I had NOOOOOOO ANXIETY. NONE. My stomach wasn't jittery, I felt normal (besides this flu bug I have which makes me feel like death- I feel "normal").
What is up with that?
Could the Klonopin really be making me jittery and worse or am I just imagining all this?
I checked my blood sugar and it was still a little low (74).
So nothing drastic has changed there. The only thing different is the no Klonopin and the flu bug.
Maybe this flu is healing my anxiety because I am so consumed with feeling like I got hit by a Mack Truck that I don't even realize I'm still mental. ha ha ha.

sorry for i had get it out!
Klonopin .25mg, my goodness i take 1mg and that is a baby dose for me! you are a scream!
Imagination can be anything, including symptoms that are there. One time back, well not, near back, when i thought was going in insane, my eyes were going lose their muscle hold and get lazy eye! and they would roll around everywhere! i am insane...
Anyways, just forget what i just said.
I have heard people feel "better" when they have the flu, dont have energy but the mood is good, just mellow out. I dont know what effect the Virus has on the nuerotransmitters, serotonin... i rerember i read that on some post here LONG ago. The body could be using its main functions to fight with the infection, well flu, which may take away your anxiety, i guess energy.
Body goes into sedation mode...
I dont know much.... but get better, and not go back to anxiety.

What Matt says makes sense. When you're sick you have no energy, hence no anxiety. Your body just wants to rest to heal itself. Fondly, Phillipa

After my dr. appointment and standing in this huge line at Wal-mart to get rx's.. WHAM.. Anxiety back in full blown swing.
So I should've waited a little longer before I counted my chickens.
Darn.
Whenever I get sick (flu), I have this thing where I feel like I am choking. My dr. says it's post nasal drip. It literally will kind of grab my breathe (hard to describe).
Anyone have any ideas what I can do for the post nasal drip so that I don't cause myself to have a panic attack from feeling like I can't breathe?

Neosynephrin[probably wrong spelling] nasal spray. But don't stand in line at Wal-Mart. Go to a drug store and get out quick! Fondly, Phillipa

>It could be the klonopin, it happened to me. For years I had mind bending anxiety and my doctors prescribed medication that was calming, and therefore often a slight depressant. It makes sense, but my anxiety worsened, especially with the klonopin.
I found a consultant psychiatrist who explained that this can happen, if anxiety is a symptom of your depression, and you take a depressant, your anxiety can get worse simply because your depression is also.

klonopin is notoriously known for increasing depression according to my old pdoc, and some med info. Xanax has a slight anti-depressant effect. Valium just relaxes you so your anxiety is relieved and you don't become depressed. Since I've been back on it, I notice a big difference for the good in my depression. Fondly, Phillipa
