I was healthy females age 41--- I went to DR for PMS- Dr precribed Effexor XR 37.5 mg. 1 time per day. Actually, I havent been back so I hope Iit doesnt need to increase or anything. I HATE THE WAY I FEEL. I have dreams every night! I never want to have sex with my husband and forget about an orgasm. If I do , its just not right. I wake in the am take my pill and go back to sleep again. I was separated before and now we are fine, I was never really depressed just having signs of early menopause or something. I want to stop taking this stupid drug after reading all this stuff and after the effects I am having...my Dr said none of this..any information on how to stop will be appreciated. What about gaining 15 pounds. I eat everything in sight.

How long have you been on it? I wouldn't think it should be that big of an issue getting off of it at that dose.
I was on 75 mg for three years and was off of it for 9 days (before today) and it wasn't that bad. It does effect everyone differently though.
See all the posts above on Effexor withdrawal.
I am back on it now for a short while since Cymbalta would not work for me.

If you've never taken -- and hence never gone off of -- an AD before, it can seem a little scary, but just knowing what to expect helps a lot, I think. (Instead of just having things happen and wondering what's wrong.) If you follow all the tips here about tapering off your meds, you should minimize discontinuation / withdrawal symptoms. Read the posts here, talk to your doctor(s) and have a plan.

racing heart, minihaha gives good advise. There are both good and bad withdraw stories here. May I suggest that you read my thread from about 40 days ago, "Renee tapering off effexor". You may or may not need to do it exactly like I did, but you can get an idea of how I did it without having a "bad" experience. Its been about 9 days now that I've been off, and doing fine. Every day gets better.....I havent updated my post for a few days but you'll get some insight there. It doesnt have to be scary. OK? Reneee
