Are there any mood stabilizers/ antiepileptic/ anxiolytic drugs apart from the Benzodiazepines that increase GABA WITHOUT AFFECTING Sodium and/or Calcium channels??
I think one such might be of benefit to me. My hunch is that the inhibition of these channels/ currents is what causes the "flat effect"
Any suggestions?

I feel exactly the same way. I take valproate, and it is better than tegretol in that it has an additional gaba effect, but I actually feel more normal on a benzodiazapine.
The CA/NA blocakdade can really drag you down wheras a pure gaba effect might leave you more intact.
Perhaps pregabalin ?

I feel so-so today. The pdoc calling to reschedule my appointment for another month really hit me hard. I've been waiting almost 6months for somebody who will consider trying anything other than a SSRI.
