Amisulpride - what's the story?

Posted by KaraS on January 6, 2005, at 11:15:25

I just found out that a major British pharmaceutical distributor is no longer carrying amisulpride. I hope it's still being made. Seems like another option is down the drain.

Hi!

Don't worry, I can't see any reason why it wouldn't be. What have you read?

I also heard from another poster that it had stopped being distributed. I'm sorry I forgot who it was.

I went to the website of that UK distributor (I don't think the name is allowed to be mentioned on this site). I noticed that amisulpride was not listed there anymore. Then I e-mailed them and they replied that it has been discontinued. I'm not sure if that means that they have stopped carrying it or whether it's no longer being made. I sent them an e-mail asking them to clarify but I haven't heard back yet.

Hi Kara!

I checked in the Pharmaceutical Journal today. Amisulpride has NOT been discontinued in the UK.

Ed,

I got an e-mail message back from the company in question and they said this:

"Yes it is still available but we dont supply, its restricted."

So apparently it's been reclassified by our government or yours. I think that all of the AP drugs have been removed from their website so I think this is much bigger than just amisulpride. This will be almost impossible for someone in the U.S. to get now. This is maddening!!

(hope this link qorks for others)

"Solian® is marketed in 43 countries, Europe as well as Asia, Africa, and Latin America and will be launched soon in 16 other countries."

Kara...

If you want it, you'll be able to get it somehow! It's available in so many countries!
