I took my first dose of Adderall(Barr) yesterday about 6pm, 20mg. In one hour I could feel nothing, no euphoria, mabye SLIGHT mood lift... but I started doing stuff... organizing, work, talking... so I know it was working.
Here's the 'problem,' When I got home at 2am (8 hrs later) I was still in the mood to clean/organize... I did things I have been meaning to do for a long time, very quickly and efficiently.
I thought, "OK, 8 hrs because its my first dose" I was able to go to sleep fine(felt tired, but still 'ambitious') But when I got up in the morning, 10am, SAME THING. I was taking my time do "Do things right" If you know what I mean, THIS IS NOT ME, I AM A LAZY **** so the stuff still had to be in my system. even at 6pm(24 hrs later) I was working on things much more systematically. I did not take a dose this morning because I was still feeling 'up'
Is it possible I am a slow metabolizer? and the stuff stays in my system waay too long? Mabye this is why for some folks stims work great for 2-3 days then lead to poopout/depression? this is why I went w/o taking an additional dose today. I have not experienced any sort of crash.
or am i going insane?

I was thinking mabye the dose was too high, but this doesnt explain the lack of euphoria/26+hour duration!~!~~~!!!

I should add I had a similar experience with Methamphetamine HCL(crystal) about 1.5 weeks ago. I used about 100mg in one day (with NO euphoria/high... what a gyp) and the effects lasted probably 35 hours. I could still sleep but it was easy to wake up and do shite the next day. I never crashed. 2 days later I was kinda lethargic, that's it.
I also had some nasty Bruixm(sp) on the Meth, chewed the crap outta my tounge. Kinda weird because otherwise it provided significant relief from anxiety.

20mg is a fairly high dose for someone who does not take amphetamines regularly. The usual starting dose would be 5mg twice daily (one dose first thing in the morning, one dose 4-6 hrs later). That dose would then be adjusted (usually upward) at weekly intervals until you find the optimal level. Ramping up the dose faster can be very hard on your brain.
The half-life of amphetamine in the bloodstream is about 12 hrs, so even after 24 hrs, a quarter of the dose would still be present. That would probably explain why you were still wired the next day.
With regular use, the duration of action gets shorter, more like 4-6 hours. The amphetamine stays in your bloodstream longer than that, but for some reason you don't really feel it.
