Wellbutrin Side Effects - Vertigo'n'More

Posted by Craig1998 on November 18, 2004, at 0:22:56

Hello all, first time to this site. I looked for Wellbutrin posts, wasn't able to find any that helped so here I am.

I've been on Wellbutrin almost a week now, and I get a strange (haven't experienced b4) feeling of dizziness.. I feel like I could just topple over fairly often.

Other than that I have an some odd feelings in my head a couple times, that's the most I can describe - it is just odd.

I went to family doc and he ran the blood tests, of course things look fine.

On the RX bottle, it says it can cause dizziness - I saw that before I started taking it, but my head feels kind of compressed and dizzy and just didn't expect anything this altering.

BTW, quitting somking - that's why I'm on it. I think I'm going to dump this drug and just try my best again to quit.

Any suggestions would be appreciated, thank you.

Hi!

Dizziness is a recognised side effect of Wellbutrin (Bupropion).

From a study of bupropion.......'Dizziness, insomnia, and pruritus appeared more frequently in the bupropion group than in the placebo group.'

Regards,
Ed.

Hi,

I am taking Welbutrin, and have been for some time. I went off for a while, but started back on recently. When I first started taking it, I remember being dizzy, but that does go away. If it doesn't go away, I think you should contact your dr. Remember, you don't ever want to quit taking Welbutrin with tapering off, so check with your dr. before making any discisions. I think you may benifit from this if you can work through these side effects, I know I did. -L

Alright, I'll continue taking it, and if nothing changes I will need to see the doc.

Thanks for the responses, helpful to know I'm not just freaking out on this medicine.

Thank you again!

I'm surprised your doc put you on Wellbutrin to quit smoking. They make another dose for that, they sell it under the name Zyban.

perhaps you can ask your doc about switching to the lesser dosed Zyban?

I'll get the bottle and tell you what this dosage is. The doctor has told me to stop for a week and see what happens, for whatever reasons I've done well quitting smoking this time around. I tried before and got the shakes and all the normal stuff. I quit smoking on Thursday and had gotten the wellbutrin on Friday and started...

I never increased the dosage, on day 3 I'm suppose to take 2 a day -- but I was feeling bad enough on what I was taking that I felt 2 would really mess me up.

So, I haven't taken any today, or yesterday - still doing fine.

If I do fine without it, I'll be happy -- I just hope the medicine or something caused me the problems, and I think it was because I've been better, but not 100% all the time...

Thanks
Craigo
