Anyone have any experience(s) with Keppra for extreme anxiety/panic? Please share!!
I am very anxious about this drug (re: weight gain, nausea and other side effects) but my pdoc is now being uber-stingy with rx'ing of Klonopin (which works like a dream for me, no side effects/fear of weight gain, extremely effective; i have been on it once in the past, too, with no dependence/addiction probs). He just seems very opposed to the drug, even though he knows it helps me and I'm scared of the alternatives (and cannot afford them right now).
Any comments/advice?

> L.Hi-I saw your post about Gabitril up above as well. I've tried both. Keppra would be a better med to try, IMO. Gabitril can cause depersonalization and weird detached feelings. I had that reaction and have read about others' here. Not many positive things.
Keppra... I actually experienced a mild weight *loss* while taking that one. And also found it is somewhat substitutable with clonazepam. I've got bipolar and have some temper flares and it seemed to aggravate those, so that's why the Keppra got ditched. Otherwise, I slept better on that med at night than clonazepam or practically anything else (the best thing I liked about it). As far as anxiety goes.... yes, I noticed that it seemed to have an ability to lessen agoraphobia, social anxiety (not as good as clonazepam though), and reduced situational panic. There was one instance where I took 250mg before a doc appt. and arrived at a full reception room that made me start to panic and then the med kicked in and I felt the panic just drift completely away. My pdoc liked all of that of course, but it just got me too temperamental. I think it would be a good thing to try. Don't dx the clonazepam at the same time though (maybe reduce).
