What medications help with OCD thoughts. I have tried them all. I am on Lexapro abd Remeron now. But I would appreciate anyones comments on the medication that best helped them control their OCD unwanted thoughts.

>I've tried every antidepressant except Cymbalta, only because it's so new.
The only thing I've found to help my obsessive thoughts (not OCD) is Klonopin. I take it along with Lexapro, because I also have depression and hope that the Lexapro does something for it.
Talk to your doc. Anafranil, I hear, is good for OCD, if you're willing to put up with side effects. Unfortunately, OCD is pretty hard to disrupt, and you just need to keep trying with different meds, maybe even antipsychotics too, and hopefully find some relief from Klonopin while you're trying things out.
I went to my therapist over it, and her advice was to "change my position or environment" when I have obsessive thoughts. Statements like that make my want to cry, because I feel like no one can ever help me. Thank god for Klonopin.

Cannot believe it I may have found a break through. I also take Klonopin by the way. But along with the depression and anxiety disorder I have a cavernous menigioma in my spine (which is a fancy word for a growth of blood vessels that has caused a pinched nerve and caused weakness and pain in my lower left leg). But to look at me you would never know it.
Anyway besides having a pdoc I also see a nuerologist. He put me on the medication Trileptal for the pain in my leg. At lower doses it did nothing so I quit taking it. But I saw him this past week for my check up and he insisted I go back on it and raised the dose.
Well it has done little for my leg, but has done WONDERS for my OCD thoughts. Today my mind was obsessing out of control. But I took my dose of Trileptal and it completely stopped.
I looked Trileptal up and it is used as a mood stabilizer, used in panic disorder, major depression. Man I hope it continues it effects. Haven't felt this good in a long time.
It has very little side effects to. They even use it in children. So, it must be pretty safe.
Wish you the best and thanks for the response.

My son has done well with zoloft and buspar for quite a few years. In addition we took him to a therapist who specialized in working with OCD. His issue was the obsessive thoughts rather than compulsive behavior.
