From Dr. Jay Goldstein, "Tuning the Brain":
"I instruct patients taking Remeron to eat a normal portion and stop eating whether they feel full or not. I advise them that satiety will occur in 10-15 minutes..."

good advice, for any med that inhibits weight gain. Like my zyprexa. Too bad I just went up in dose, thats when the weight loss is the the hardest.

When I want off Parnate my weight dropped about 25-30 pounds. Now it's creeping up on 75 mg of Effexor /day. I think it must affect more than appetite. (metabolism?)

My theory is that the med relaxes you and you burn less energy. I also gained about 70 lbs from when I started taking zyprexa, 7 years ago, up untill last year and a half ago. At that point still taking the same dose of zyprexa I went on a massive diet and exercise, tough to do when all you want is to relaxa and eat. Lost 60 lbs in 3 months.

Shortly after all that I decided to reduce meds. It suddenly got real easy to stay healthy. Toned up got in excelent shape, 10 % or less body fat, and good muscle tone. Later though the year I went back on meds slowly, and without the ease been getting lazy. I put on 10 lbs.
