i'm on prozac 60mg, klonopin 1mg 3x daily as needed, risperdol 2mg a day, and welbutrin 300mg a day. i stay extremely fatiqued and am in an out of bed all day whenever i am home. i have taken these meds for over 10 years and have been tired for as long. scared to try anything new after being on these for so long, and they really have helped with the depression, but i'm just so tired. i feel mentally the best i have in years and hate to change meds, but it would be nice to have more energy. any suggestions of a med change that would help with this fatique. Would cymbalta be a good substitute for prozac. does it cause less fatique.?
is it the risperdol that is causing the fatique?
any suggestions or comments would be helpful.

I have felt the very same way. Regrettably, I went off all meds. I have more energy but the depression returned.
As far as meds, Provigil would probably be a good bet.
Good luck.

Dear Vicksnow,
Wow, I was on Proac 60mg, Wellbutrin 300mg, and Klonopin 3-4mg for 10 years, too!! And for the past year or so I was soooooooooooooo tired and sleepy all day long. Terrible.
My pdoc said to cut back on the Klonopin, which i did very slowly. It was really hard. Very slow. I am now down to 1mg Klonopin and I am doing much better during the day. Much more awake and not wanting to lay down and take a nap all the time.
Also, I just switched to Cymbalta. I am on Day 5. I spent the past month tapering off of Prozac. I find the Cymbalta to be mildly energizing. I feel more motivated and alert.
It is mild, but it is there. So, that's my two cents for you. You have been on Prozac for so long, if I were you, I would give Cymbalta a try.

Hi Earthgirl,I'm confused as to why you felt the need to slowly reduce the Prozac. It's the easiest drug to go off of. In fact, it's often introduced at the time people are tapering off of other SSRIs (to prevent withdrawal effects because of it's long half-life.)
Also, I've read a couple of your other posts on Cymbalta and they are very encouraging. I've been meaning to start it myself these last couple of weeks but haven't found the right time. (I'vew been really busy and I hate starting new medications!)
Anyway, I'm glad to hear it's working out for you so far. Please continue to keep us posted!
Thanks,
Kara

Hi Kara,
Well, if it were up to me, I would have switched right over to Cymbalta without tapering off Prozac, but, my pdoc wanted to do it that way, and I am a pretty "submissive" patient (i.e. I don't argue:-).
I don't know if it was a medically "valid" thing to do (to taper down on the prozac before switching), but, I am just thankful I am finally on Cymbalta.
Thank you for your feedback!
Earthgirl
