hello,
the topic of benzos is one that has truly been shrouded in mystery for me, but no longer. i just wanted to let anyone who might be interested know that i have decided to take a benzo for my social anxiety. i've personally decided to start with klonopin. i believe that it will have no negative impact on my cognition (at the proper dose). i came to this conclusion after mentally waffling for the last couple weeks on this issue, due to the extremely contradictory nature of information on this particular topic on the net. I would also highly recommend a benzo to others suffering from a serious anxiety issue. (i will also be taking something for my depression.)
be well,
amy

i think that's a good choice. Klonopin has helped me enormously. the good thing is that tolerance develops to its sedating effects, but less so to its anxiolytic effects, which are quite powerful.
another point in favor of benzos is that they are safe to take in combination with other meds, even MAOI's.

thank you, zeugma! i'm now feeling fully confident about taking this med (after getting over some strange mental hurdle). i'm still checking out l-theanine, though, as it is much cheaper. appreciate your input. :)

Klonopin has been the ONLY med to help my anxiety and it's been very effective and pretty much SE free! I'm so glad I found it last year!
Now, the racing thoughts, occasional depression, and short term memory are a different matter..still working on a med for that!
You were right to spend time researching and thinking about what might be right for you....monitor your response to klonopin carefully...and very best of luck. Take care.

I am glad you researched and found something for you. I hope it works for you and you get relief. I take xanax along with effexor and it works miricles for me.

Hi All!!
Finally!!! A group of people who didnt buy into the anti-benzo hype!!! I am proud of everyone above and along with you all, I have been taking Klono 3mg/day for 3+ years and have been panic free. I tried everything else, and Klono was it. I definitely shows that everyones body chemistry is different, thats why I dont like when people make anti-benzo generalizations...because we are proof!!!

I agree with the others. I have been on and off xanax for years when my panic flares. However now that I am taking Zoloft, is this safe to take along with xanax? I don't want to wake up dead or anything.
thanks
