Hi, how are you? dont know if you remeber me. Anyway doesnt matter. Ok, I know you take adderall something Im going to start. My not so important question is what dose, and the big question is do you take any anti poop out med along with? Memantine, dxm? Oh ya, and how the hell did you get a pdoc like you have. Ive heard of them in ancient legends, but that one even exists? Did call ask them, maybe not so blunt, but if their more liberal and all. Thanks, I always find your posts interesting.

Hi there! Of course I remember you -- I haven't been gone *that* long. :-)
> Anyway doesnt matter. Ok, I know you take adderall something Im going to start. My not so important question is what dose, and the big question is do you take any anti poop out med along with? Memantine, dxm?
I take 30mg of the immediate-release four times daily, once every six hours (that includes a dose right before bed -- it helps me sleep!). I've been taking DXM longterm and it's been a dream come true. I was using the extended-release syrup Delsym (dextromethorphan polistirex) at 30mg twice daily, but recently switched to Dexalone capsules. They each contain 30mg DXM HBr, they don't taste "cough-mediciney" and (most importantly for me since I'm doing the low carb thing), no sugar! I also tried amantadine awhile back for a few weeks as a replacement for my DXM, and although it worked, it gave me horribly vivid nightmares.
> Oh ya, and how the hell did you get a pdoc like you have. Ive heard of them in ancient legends, but that one even exists?
lol, it's called luck. VERY good luck.
> Did call ask them, maybe not so blunt, but if their more liberal and all.
Oh no, I never call and ask ahead about a doctor's prescribing habits and limits -- that tends to set off a red-flag that just screams "drug-seeker" to many unenlightened practitioners of medicine.
> Thanks, I always find your posts interesting.
You're very welcome; glad I can ofter something to the board that may help someone. :-)
By the way, what will you be starting the Adderall for? Just curious.
All the best,
~Michael

Thanks alot for the info. Im hoping to start, and the probability is very good, taking it for some innatention, lack of arousal, but mainly (and I dont say this, simply cause the whole case drops when I do) for social anxiety. Doctors seem to have no idea that stimulants can be used for this. My sp isnt surrounded as much around things like stage fright(performance) as it is with interpersonal stuff like conversing. Actually i fear talking one on one more than giving a pree planned speech or reading or something! and I KNOW adderall will be perfect for this, providing it dosent poop out. Which leads to - dxm. So its available non prescription, correct? Is dexalone expensive? Is it just dxm or other stuff mixed in? Where do you buy it? See Im moving to the states (Florida) from Canada so laws and products are probably a bit different. Hopefully Ill find a good doc and show them that I was taking adderall in Canada, so as to reduce any boundaries of asking for amphetamines on first visit. (Ive got a gp who has never had problems with presc. stims in the past)
I sort of forgot that using adderall was a posibility since dex pooped out on me in the past, and no doctor I talked to had ever heard of or wanted to listen to using nmda antagonists for poop out. But now dxm is an interesting new option... Any other advice would be nice, and from me, a whole lot of thanks! Tom

Anytime -- glad I could help. :-)

And sadly, most of them never will. What a shame, huh? I mean, it's not as if it's a huge leap from acknowledging that such a stimulating drug as Parnate can be wonderful for social phobia to recognizing the same goes for pure indirect-acting sympathometics.
> My sp isnt surrounded as much around things like stage fright(performance) as it is with interpersonal stuff like conversing. Actually i fear talking one on one more than giving a pree planned speech or reading or something!
Wow -- that *is* an odd variety! Wish I could have *your* version of SP, lol.
> and I KNOW adderall will be perfect for this, providing it dosent poop out. Which leads to - dxm. So its available non prescription, correct?
Absolutely!
> Is dexalone expensive?
I wouldn't say so -- to start, one 30mg capsule with each dose of Adderall should do (or, if taking Adderall XR, one capsule with the Adderall and another 5-6 hours later). And that may be all you'll ever need. So if you take two doses daily, which is pretty standard (though I take four), that's sixty capsules monthly. I buy mine here: http://www.drugstore.com/qxb26572_333181_sespider/dexalone/dexalone.htm. Only $13.99 for a box of 30. They're more expensive and harder to find in actual pharmacies, like Walgreens, Eckerd, etc, as they're finally acknowledging that people are abusing products containing only DXM (not to mention, of course, the imbeciles that are killing themselves with Coricidin) and so don't even stock them. Thirty milligram gelcaps are a hell of a lot more an attractive option than guzzling bottles of Robitussin Maximum Strength Cough, and they know it! lol
Dexalone is apparently a sort of replacement for Drixoral Cough Caps. They also contained 30mg DXM HBr per pill and were available until sometime in 1997, when Schering-Plough removed them from the market due to "poor sales", lol. I have an inkling that it was actually the opposite problem that led to its market withdrawal.
Of course there are Robitussin CoughGels, but they contain only 15mg DXM HBr per gelcap and are considerably more expensive. Walgreens' website, for example, lists them as 20 x 15mg gelcaps for $6.29, which amounts to a mere 300mg (about a five day supply). Dexalone, OTOH, goes for about $14 for 30 x 30mg, which equals 900mg and about a two weeks' supply.
> Is it just dxm or other stuff mixed in?
The only active ingredient is dextromethorphan HBr.
> Where do you buy it?
Well, as I mentioned above, I certainly recommend ordering online so you don't end up on a store-to-store scavenger hunt trying to find the stuff.
> See Im moving to the states (Florida) from Canada so laws and products are probably a bit different.

Provided that you see a psychiatrist and not a GP when you get to Florida, merely *telling* them that you just moved here from Canada and take Adderall will, in the majority of cases, be enough to get your script.

Definitely... have you done a lot of reading on your own about DXM and NMDA antagonism/tolerance prevention? There's a lot of great info out there now concerning this. For example, a combination morphine/dextromethorphan pill called MorphiDex is undergoing end-stage clinical trials for pain relief. Apparently it not only prevents opioid tolerance from developing, but (DXM being an opioid itself) even allows patients to decrease their morphine doses. Another product utilizing oxycodone is being tested as well, I believe... OxyDex? I dunno....

Well, if there's anything else you'd like to know, I'd be more than happy to help out -- and you're very welcome!
All the best,

As I live in Brasil, I can talk of adderal cause we dont have it here. But another anphetamines derivates and even Ritalin(the main drug in my post)really help in SP situations. I never used dex, but read more people that liked it.
Well, one advice I want to tell you: I(and my brother) already used parnate and its a good anti-D, but made nothing for mine SP. Now my brother is on Nardil and said at SP point it is very much better than parnate. I myself plan to use Nardil in the beggining of year.
And klonopin is still the better one to SP.Root
