Hi,
I'm at 50 mg of Lamictal and experiencing a nasty headache.. does this side effect tend to subside with time???Also, I'm relatively tired at this dose.. In general, is lamictal known to be activating or sedating?
Thanx for the read

For me, headaches went away on Lamictal. It tends to be the more activating of the anti-convulsants yet I felt fatigued/weak much of the time while I was on 150mgs. Went off for a while and am now starting back on (at square one..again) 25mgs. I Just don't seem to be able to tolerate the others: depakote, lithium, etc.

Headaches went away.
Activating, but not horribly so.

took my headaches away. now at 300 mg and it doesn't seem to make me tired or wired. as soon as i hit 300 mg it kicked in and so far i think lamictal is great.

Hi, I was just reading the post and you said you take 300 mg. I take 100mg and have headaches and am sleepy, but i also take prozac. What is your diagnoses?? What else are you taking besides lamictal.
Thanks

i had horrible headaches before i started lamictal and my pcdoc told me that after i reached a certain level with the lamictal that they would go away. i also started seeing a chiro because i wondered if the headaches could have been from a pinched nerve or something. soooo...i can't really say for sure whether it was the chiro or the lamictal that made the headaches go away.
i also take .5 mg klonpin before bed for jaw muscle tightness which i used to think was a side effect from the ssri's i used to take. however i went off the ssri's for 3 months and my jaw still used to feel like the iron jaw. so when the jaw thing continued on lamictal my pcdoc added the klonpin and so far (a few days only) it seems to be working.
anyway, to make a long story a hair shorter, i'm bp 4,5 or 6 or whatever number is past 1 and 2. i can never remember which. but it is depressed bp.
compared to the ssri's i've experienced in the past (all of them) i'm not sleepy all day like some of those caused. in fact today i can't shut up.
my pcdoc thinks lamictal will be a mono therapy for me (the klonopin is so small and really not for the depression i guess). he thinks lamictal will become more widely used for depression with the need for mood stablization. i have to say i never considered myself in need of anything but an ssri as i reacted well to them but the side effects were awful. i always thought they simply had to be ineffective to go to something like this. but after finally reaching 300mg i am very pleased with lamictal. no sleepiness, no eating every minute, no sexual side effects. i do still get a bit of social anxiety but you can't have everything.
sorry i cant' shut up. maybe it's the klonopin i just added. i'm leaving now.
This is the end of the thread.
