how do you know id lexapro is enough?

Posted by shadowmon on June 18, 2004, at 4:43:40

I'm currently on lexapro 15 mgs for about 21/2 weeks now. Taken at night. I can function during the day but I am still terribly worried. I can function, but I am still concerned and I still wake up with horrible mornings in which I don't eat (I've already lost 20 lbs) no appetite and still have the stressed body tense feeling when I wake up. All those on lexapro, I'm not sure if I should ask my dr to go up on it when I see him in about 2 weeks. This is not fun at all. do you think that suggesting taking it in the morning will help me better? That's how I used to take paxil.

I used to be on paxil 40 mg and it worked for me. I tried to get off because the weight gain was too much. I never realized how difficult this was going to be.

Hi Shadowmon,

I think, if you are still experiencing anxiety, maybe it isnt enough.
Ive experimented with nighttime dosing and morning dosing, For a while I was taking 10mgs/PM & 10mgs./AM. Now, I take my Lexapro 20 mgs. at night because Im too tired in the day when I take it in the morning. I take Gabatril too and its helpful for me with anxiety and its helped to balance my mood. I have xanax (which I RARELEY take) and Klonopin too. Strangley enough sience I started Concerta, my pdoc has lowered my Gabatril & Klonopin because the stimulant relaxes me!
Funny, I lost lots of weight on Paxil. Ive gained lots (20 pounds)on Lexapro.

Try taking it in yhe morning, its worth a shot.
Do you see a Pdoc or gp for you condition?

Best Wishes,
Cindy

I have a similar experience as watergirl. My Strattera relaxes me.

The only other psychotropic drug I take is Lexapro 30 mg. I take it when I wake up in the morning.

Try it in the am. If you are still tense, ask your doc about a dosage increase.

I am definitely going to try that. I took a partial dosage at my time tonight as to not take too much. I took it earlier than I usually do. and I did notice that it was a little better than most days
