Are there any supplements or foods that can be taken to help flush Adderall from your system? I know that acidic conditions reduce the effects - such as orange juice and soda pop. I want to try to take a day or so to flush my system since my meds have seem to have lost their effectiveness. I can't go very long off them, however, or I get too scattered to be useful. Any tips?
Also, are there any supplements or foods that help to sustain or improve the effects of the Adderall without having to increase the dosage? Thanks!

Hi,
From what I've heard (never tried it myself even though I have been on Adderall) is that the oposite of acidic foods can increase the effects of Adderall. But I want to make it clear that I read this on some site somewhere a few months ago that was basically all about just posting drug experiences- the non-medical "trying to get high" type.
Not recommending this at all, but here is what the guy said. He said he took baking soda with Adderal, since that's the opposite of acidic substances. I can't remember the specifics but apparently it was not a good experience at all- I think he just got extra jittery and nervous, sort of got the side effects from Adderall enhanced but that was it.
Anyway, I'm all about free speech so that's why I told you that but I'd really recommend talking to your doctor instead. Some people have to switch back and forth between different ADD meds to keep from having the problem you're having now. Maybe that's a thought if you haven't tried it before?
Best of luck to you,
Caper

Caper - Thank you for your reply. I'm certainly NOT trying to "get high" - I just want the meds that I take to be effective without having to increase my dosage - although I know that there are those out there that are just into it for getting high. I want to be productive - not spaced out! :)

Thanks, Chemist! From what I have been reading, you certainly know your stuff! Do you know of any supplements that help your body accept and process your meds better? I take fish oil and Sam-E and 5HTP and Ginko Biloba. This may not be the right forum for this question - although it pertains to how to make your meds more effective.

I absolutely did not mean to imply that your seeking a natural way to increase adderall's effects without increasing the dosage was because you wanted to get "high" or anything like that. The thought really never even crossed my mind. Like I said, I've been on Adderall myself and know the down side of it, so I read your post to mean you were wanting your medication to keep working without having to risk increased side effects by increasing the dosage.
My mentioning getting high was because what little info I had came from a site that was pretty much a forum in which people discussed drug experiences. At this site it was easy to see that posts were nearly always (as the posters frankly admitted) about experimentation or "recreational" drug experiences.
So, to sum it up, I wanted to give you the little bit of information I could, but felt it was also important to let you know where it came from, and that from the one experience I read, it didn't seem likely that the baking soda addition would have given you what you were seeking anyway.
I should have been a little more careful in the way I phrased things though and I apologize if it seemed I was implying drug abuse as your motive. I guess that's the biggest problem with communication this way- there's no tone of voice so it's easy for things to come out sounding different than we meant them.
I hope things work out for you soon.
Take care,
Caper

Oh No!! In no way did you offend me! :) I am not easily offended - especially when someone is giving me advice. I have seen the site you are referring to. It's sad that folks like that abuse a substance that some of us truly need. I appreciate your comments and welcome frankness and honesty. Thank you!

This may not be the right forum for this question - although it pertains to how to make your meds more effective.hi there...i take omega-3, lots of it, as it has been shown to be of benefit in mood stabization in high doses. i don't take any of the others you mention, largely because i am not aware of any hard-core evidence that sam-e is of use, and that i don't have the need for ginko. as for 5-HTP, i am aware that many posters use it and that they report that it works fine. i have not checked the literature - which is not always right, or at least, not always indicative of how it works for a given person - so i shy away from that. i do take lots of vitamin B complex and vitamin C, mostly for anti-oxidant stuff but the B's are great for all kinds of things. all that said, none of these supplements/heral remedies affect bioavalibility of adderall, because this is an issue dealing with the pH of your gastrointestinal fluids, which will degrade the adderall more slowly if you incease the pH by inroducing a base such as an antacid, thus allowing absorption of the parent compounds in adderall to make their way into your system in higher quantities.....hope this helps, and all the best, chemist

Lots and lots and lots of Vitamin C. Up to 3-4 grams. And drink a lot of water.

hello there, chemist here...any acidifying agent will do. besides, the eliminiation of the racemate is no more than 12 hours. pardon me, but the above advice is misguided. all the best, chemist

Keeping in mind that the idea here is not to post anything that could lead others to feel accused or put down, could you please rephrase that?
