I'm losing faith and getting annoyed with this Remeron....
Thus far I have tried (as augmentation for OCD)
1)Nardil + Lithium - no clear effect
2)Nardil + DLPA- made depression worse
3)Nardil + Reboxetine- after 2 doses, made 4)depression worse
5)Nardil + Gabapentin- No effect (but only used for a week or two)
6)Nardil + Amisulpride- helped anxiety but not OCD
7)Nardil + Pindolol- induced depression
8)Nardil + L-Tryptophan- may have helped depression, slightly helped OCD (but too expensive for long-term!)
9)Nardil + Folic Acid- no real effect...10) Nardil + Zyprexa- definately helps OCD up to 60-70%
Ofcourse I want to rub away the last 30-40% of OCD....This is my options...
1. Nardil + Zyprexa + Lamictal
2. Nardil + Zyprexa + Carbamazepine
3. Nardil + Zyprexa + TCA
4. Nardil 105-120mg + Zyprexa + XanaxQSTNS:
1. Is it safe to add Carbamazepine to Nardil?
2. Which TCA is safest with Nardil??
3. Any other thoughts, guys?????!!!!
Ace
Nardil 75
Zyprexa 2.5
Remeron 15

Meethinks
You have become obsessed with meds. You didn't state what your problem is. If it is depression you didn't mention effexor. Has worked wonders for me along with xanax occassionally when needed!!

> You have become obsessed with meds.To a certain degree, yes. But it is not an ego-dystonic obsession, so therefore not a manifestation of OCD, but only OCPD (if anything).
But, on the other hand, becoming a little obsessed with finding the right treatment is a good thing. It motivates one to seek, try new approaches, and if seen through the obsession will yeild an obsession-less person- so THEN i wont be obsessing over meds so much!!! Get my drift!??
You didn't state what your problem is.
Yes I did, OCD.
If it is depression you didn't mention effexor. Has worked wonders for me
That's good, but I don't think much of Effecxor at all. But I'm glad it works for you.
along with xanax occassionally when needed!!
Xanax is a brilliant medicine, best taken regularly, as opposed to PRN.

I had asked you a question awhile back that you didn't respond to.
Is there any history in your family of tics, Tourettes, or ADD?

Have you done a trial of Inositol. This is probably the best researched supplement to be used in OCD. According to some researchers, the serotogenic medications work because they activate the phosphatidl-inositol cycle.
It's worth a try. It certainly made me less obsessed, although it may have made me slightly manic.

I'm sure I have a little ADHD. I have thought about Clonidine- I have heard it is useful for Depersonalisation syndrome (which i suffer), OCD, and depression.
It might be worth a try!

Yes, but briefly. The stuff is too expensive!!

What do you think, about Lamictal, Carbamazepine or Clonidine? These are my new ideas...

Ace, fwiw, drop the remeron. I take it now, but only 15mg hs. for help w/sleep. It seemed to either make me more obsessive or I realized how much my long standing
friend/foe-FXR was actually helping my obsessiveness and 'thoughts'--also my trial with Lamictal seemed to help my clarity of thinking, it did zero for my ocd. I wish I had more to tell you I just don't see how a MS would help OCD.Have you ever had a trial with FXR - it is a good med despite its very frequent tounge lashings that it gets here on PB. I know how much you love your Nardil and you can't mix too many other meds with it..... is your ocd mainly obsessiveness or rituals as well.. just grasping here for ideas. :)
I have to be honest with you also having been on over 50 different meds in 14 yrs- I have come to realize that these drugs can only do so much....wish I had more to offer :{

Looks like Abilify got on the PBS this month, I thought it looked interesting because it was actually a lot different to Zyprexa.....

Have you ever been on Wellbutrin? For OCD I have a friend who took it monotherapy and it worked well. I may be way offline here though :)-"Bob"

One day you'll humor me and take Risperdal 1-3mg for a few weeks.
I'm sorry that Remeron is not working out the way you hoped it would.

Its safe to use with an MAOI. If i need more options me and my doc might have to pretend that we need it for smoking cessation!!!! (i do smoke but!)
Thanks again buddy!

Nardil +
Zyprexa(or)Seroquel +
Lamictal(or)Topamax +
Xanax (PRN)I think this formula might work. What do you think ace?
p.s. Personally, I like seroquel instead of zyprexa. I take a half of a 25 mg pill. That's why I put it as an or for you. It really helps me sleeps nicely. Also, I added and or for the mood stabilizer. I take Topamax too.

I've been on Seroquel and Zyprexa and Geodon. Geodon was the newest and the least sedating at the time, and it worked the best of those three at least for me. Abilify has since come out with supposedly a lower side effect profile than Geodon.
I think you should try Abilify if it's available. I have heard good things about it. I am far down the med line like you and it's Nardil or Abilify for me. Good luck.

No I haven't tried Abilify. Was that message for me??
If Nardil/MAOI-land doesn't pan out I have to try it. TCAs were a mixed bag for me.
Take care,

Yes, it was for you, Rob. I think you should try Abilify befor the MAIO. Might be more what you need. It acts on Dopamine, and is a strong stimulant. Quite a rush if you dose in the morning with 2-5 mg. 5 hours after you take it you are jacked up. Give it a try you will know imediatly if its for you.
