I really need help I want to switch from effexor to 5 htp which is a herbal remedy? has anyone does this? if so PLEASE tell me how you did this.
I am currently on 225 of effexor a day so that is 3 pill of 75. Can someone help me figure out a taper? I have been trying to take 225 effexor one day and 300 5 htp the next, but am getting depressed. I don't mind physical withdrawal but for me the effexor withdrawal makes me suicidal, which I currently feel. My life seems like crap, my friends terrible, I have no family etc etc I just go down a spiral! help someone, I really need a way to taper off of this slower. So I was thinking one day 3 effexor the next day 2 effexor? and how long should I do that? and then what?
help help help. I can wait to take the 5 htp til after I am off if no-one knows how to taper and add it at the same time.
please help me I really need it. i feel like crying right now. today was my effexor day so hopefully this feeling will pass. but I realize I can't go every other day without wanting to die!
I hate this drug. I really do, I have been on ones in the past and NEVER had this suicical thing. this is the same thing that happened after Paxil, which was horrifying to me.

April.. please access this site and read it very carefully. Effexor is a SNRI anti-depressant and this taper program will be very useful for you. Please Please Please taper very very very slowly. Some people experience very minor withdrawal symptoms coming off these meds and others experience very severe ones. So don't be afraid. Take comfort in knowing we have all been there in some shape or form trying to to come off these meds. The taper directions are very simple and straight forward. The more gentle the taper program you use, the more chances you will have lighter withdrawal symptoms. There is lots of info on that site that talks about how you can help your brain heal with nutrition and wellness exercises, please read through it. It helped me a great deal in knowing time and patience is critical for a healthy recovery. There is also info about when not to take herbs until your brain has returned to its normal state of chemical ballance. I'm not a health proffessional but if I can help in any way, just let me know.

April..I just read your post again and realized you were trying to mix the Effexor with the hebal medicine. I really dont think that is a good idea. Did your doctor recomend you to do that?? Please try the taper program first and see how you are feeling.. Take it one day at a time.
