Forget thinking these things are just a novel way of taking a med without others noticing it-- they are so more potent than generic Klonopin, for starters, since it's brand name-- and the co-pay's the same for me as if I were to get brand name Klonopin anyway, so why not?
They act in about 5-10 minutes, if that. A far cry from the 35 minutes tablets would take for me.
"Hey, utopizen, we're going to a party, but we're leaving in 5 minutes. Want to come?" "Sure, just let me grab my Altoid-in-a-blister-pack and I'll be on my way!"
Klonopin Wafers. Melt in your mouth, not in your stomach!

I saw these advertised in the pharm's office. My first thought was, "Hmm...those would be good to replace the communion wafers with at church!" LOL!!!!!
Err...yeah.

Because they melt on your tongue instantly like a communion wafer, that's where the name comes from. Comes in blister packs you peel one off at a time.

Are they really that much better? Maybe I should try them.

>Fairly fast. Although I haven't bothered to read the pharmokinetics from the package insert yet.
I'm not sure if its duration of action is shorter or not, but I feel a lot more at ease with the idea of going to a party without warning and simply "wafering" myself to avoid social anxiety-associated alcohol drinking that makes me very foolish, to say the least.

Regular Klonopins, crushed to powder and used sublingually work the same way as wafers. There's no need to over-pay for "new" Klonopins, because wafers were released on the market simply cause of patent expiration on regular Klonopin.

I just put the pill in my mouth and let it dissolve. I usually don't put it sublingually and sometimes if I want to ingest it faster, I use my teeth.

Although I'm not the original poster, I also sometimes crush medicine, such as the time-release beads in Dexedrine to achieve effect much sooner than the 8-hour delay to peak plasma levels and maximum benefit. I simply bought a pill crusher. A small container with a threaded lid that screws down, grinds and compresses the tablet or capsule contents. Open it back up and you have a powder. These are available from all the chain pharmacies like Walgreens and I believe manufactured by Apothecary Products, Inc. if that helps. Cost is about $4-5.

You could just dissolve it under your tongue -- Klonopin is very mild-tasting (unlike Xanax, which is somewhat bitter). I'm not sure that crushing it would help much. For fast anxiety relief, Xanax probably is better, although I prefer Klonopin for regular use (I use both Klonopin and Xanax -- Klonopin daily, and Xanax every once in a while, only when I really need it).

keep in mind many prefer the guaranteed potency of Klonopin (especially me, since switching to Wallgreens and having my parents' credit card on file for the co-pays, and Wallgreens using the pathetic PurePac generic Klonopin).
For me, it's a teir-3 co-pay for either Wafers or brand name, at $30. I may as well have the relief of anxiety in the middle of class with people having no idea what I'm unpeeling and putting on my mouth.
The other night, I was in class and knew I had to take some Adderall just then if I were to do work by the time I got back to me room. I thought I was being discreet enough, especially since I happened to be recently prescribed the small 5mg ones, but a kid saw them through my fingers apparently and gave me a dirty look, like I wasa druggie gettingg his fix.I don't deserve that, and Roche can have their profit motives all they want if it means I can take my meds as prescribed without others equating me to a drggie. I didn't ask for these problems, I'm just trying to fix them a little.
And sometimes companies can make things that help people and profit off it at the same time. I know it sounds like a hard pill to swallow, but it's easier to understand if you take a Klonopin Wafer and let it melt on your tongue instead.
This is the end of the thread.
