How many out there have been succesful with this combo in dealing with bipolar II? What dosage are you on and for how long? I just added Lamictal to my 25 mg. of Paxil CR and am looking for others out there with a similar med cocktail. I also take Xanax daily. So far things are going well. I'm a bit tired but I imagine that's to be expected. I'm on day four of the Lamictal.
Anything I should expect/look out for?

Hi,
I am also BPII and have been wanting to add an AD to my Trileptal. I was considering either Paxil or Wellbutrin and have just started WB b/c i didn't want to gain weight on Paxil. Have you had any weight gain?

I've been on Paxil for four months now and have gained about 10 pounds since. I hesitate to blame it on the Paxil though...mostly because I have been eating a lot of chocolate, drinking alcohol (bad!) and not exercising as much as I used to.
I'm trying to change the bad habits and hopefully the weight will come off. I tried Effexor first and lost almost 10 pounds in a month. I became extremely hypomanic on the Effexor. I never felt the urge to eat at all. I have heard that Effexor and Wellbutrin are quite similar which is why my pdoc and I chose Paxil. I'm going to stick it out for now. My dr. seems to think the Lamictal will help with any weight issues. Some people are known to lose weight on it.
It's so hard to tell with these things.

hi,
i take lamictal 300mg with celexa 20 or 30mg (haven't quite decided yet). i was in a pretty black depression, and the lamictal was pretty subtle, but at this dose i feel it in the background and it's wonderful--i feel like myself. titrating i had very few side effects--no rash, maybe a little bit of dizziness, no sexual stuff, weight stuff (well, i lost some i didn't need to lose). the really noticeable thing for me was that i felt pretty darn anxious for several days after increasing my dose. i used a very little bit of klonopin for a good while, and now that my levels are stable i don't need it anymore. i think lamictal is great, but if you don't get a pill all the way down on the first go, it tastes awful! also i can't take it on an empty stomach or i get really nauseated.
i think it's a great drug--something really good for depression that works very differently from most ad's.
good luck!

HI,
I too lost weight on Effexor and became hypomanic. It was prior to my BP dx. HOpefully I'll lose weight on WB! I've gained 15+ in the past year!!!:-(
