You hear a song on the radio or tv --- you may not, or may, like it-- either way it goes around and around in your head. The more you try and stop it the worse it gets. It gets very annoying! It may even be a phrase you here. It's not something your hearing from "outside." Not schizophrenia type hearing things. A letter to the Lancet from a patient, years ago, described this and other strange symptoms. The patient was suffering post viral fatigue syndrome. Sounds like viruses play a part in dep. disorders. Anyone else have this problem?

I think it's a matter of degree/severity. If you're in a normal mood and like the tune I suppose it is normal (called brain worms, I think), but if your Dep. and you don't like the tune, and it just won't stop...

Fires,
I had this for the first month I was taking Lexapro... only at night as I was TRYING to sleep would I notice that I would repeat song lyrics in my head. I attributed this to Lexapro, however, it could have been just depression in general.... I couldn't sleep at all before I started taking the Lex, and thus just may not have noticed that I did it before the meds.

It goes way down, or goes away, when I'm "better."

It is called an ear wig and the Germans reported it hundreds of years ago. It usually happens with songs you do not like! My spouse who is normal, except for being married to moi, gets these all the time. Not related to depression.

Once again I think it's a matter of severity. It can ge so bad that it can make reading difficult!
Thanks
