Are you taking any adrenergic or dopaminergic drugs? Tingling on the scalp is often what happens when you've got too much noradrenaline; ask the people on Strattera (or ephedrine, Ritalin, or amphetamine, for that matter) if they've ever gotten that. I once took tons of ephedrine + a beta blocker to keep my heart from exploding, and got so much tingling on my scalp, it was incredible.
The sensation of bugs crawling on the skin could also be "formication", a form of tactile hallucination common in ultra-high-dose psychostimulant abusers. I doubt this is what is happening to you.
If you are not taking anything besides the Vistaril, I am dumbfounded. Ask your pdoc.

Yeah, as I've said in posts past, Vistaril may work for mild generalized anxiety or agitation, but it is utterly useless for panic. I got up to 400mg/day and it barely worked for my anxiety. Hell, it took 400mg at night just to get me to sleep a few times!
If you've been on the lexapro for 4-6 weeks, Tell your doctor it is not working at that you want Klonopin or Xanax XR. If this does not happen, go to an MAOI. If that does not happen, try perhaps Remeron. Raising the dose of Lexapro probably won't help; panic responds best to LOW doses of SSRIs, AFAIK.

The condition being described is known as pruritis. Vistaril is indicated for relief of allergies or symtoms such as itching/tingling. However, with any med you may experience a paradoxical reaction or an adverse reaction similar to the symtoms you are wishing to eliminate. For example, If you are nervous, certain meds rxed to reduce this symtom may actually attenuate it a first.
When using meds in combination anything goes particularly combining cns depressants. It is unlikely that taken individually that this would occur.

P.s. I have on occasion seen some unusual reactions to Vistaril itself but only at high dosages.

so do you think i am having a reaction to this drug at the higher level I am taking? It didnt seem to help w/ the anxiety/panic feeling so I took more than pdoc RX'd.....could we draw to a conclusion to the fact that I was taking too much and had a reaction?

Can I ask exactly what meds you are taking{all of them] and a what dosages? I have seen some rather bizarre responses to the antihistamines used as psychotherapeutics. For example, Benadryl is commonly pushed off as a sleep aid due to its sedating properties, however, I have seen children and adults who have never experienced its anticholinergic or sedating effects, but actually the opposite. I have also seen some temporary Psychotic reactions to Phenergan in combination with other cns depressants.
Let Me know how your doing. Paresthesias and pruritis is fairly common to many meds.
