Hi all, thanx for the help, i have been given a ventolin inhaler 100micrograms.... to help me breath proply, doc said its all my anxiety causing me to think i can not breath proply, all he had to do was listen to my chest, it sounds clear he said, just the anxiety, i am obsessing about it, but he told me to stop smoking, and to use the inhaler as needed, so i am going to do that. BUT i am a little scared what i learnt in anxiety managment says taking in to much oxygen can cause a panick attack? inhaler's r oxygen no? i am scared, but i feel that i can not breath proply.
He told me to up the dose of my remeron from 30 to 45mg, i am a little scared but i will do it as i know i have too, as the 30mg is pooping out on me.
ANy way any advice would be much appreciated thanx guys :-)Donna

Don't worry, it's not oxygen -- Ventolin's active ingredient is albuterol sulfate (salbuterol), which is an adrenergic drug that opens up the airways. While it itself has potential to cause anxiety, it shouldn't do so provided that you don't overuse it.

The ventalin is generally used for asthma, I am not sure why he presrcibed it. It can perhaps make breathing a little less laboured.
You could try upping the remeron dose,
Another stradegy is to add a small dose of an SSRI to remeron. THe remeron should block all "jumping out of skin" feelings.
Your breathing is most likely fine. Unless there is something *physically* blocking your airway, what is the worst that can happen. You could pass out, in which case your brain *would* take over and resume breathing. Infact (from what I hear) your uncontious mind, might do a better job at it :)
Anyhow, I never heard that too much oxygen can prompt a panic attack, I always thought it was the opposite.
Best of Luck

> Hello, When everyone refers to the "poop out" which is common on this site, How many of you benefited from an increase in the current med?
From what I have gathered at this site is that the ads work for about the test trial period and then the effects are modest to minimal. Although the current trend is to recommend the usage of an ad for 6 to 12 months.
It seems logical then to either augment the current med or replace it if you still require it. Comments? Micro
