I have just been perscribed Gabitril as a mood stabilizer. What should I expect when starting this med? And is anyone having any reseults with it? Does it help with anxiety at all???

I found that Gabitril increased anxiety. It also made my depression worse. Of course, everyone is different. From what I've read, it seems that Gabitril is not proving to be effective as a mood stabilizer.

I also was told recently by a well-regarded psychiatrist that Gabitril "did nothing" as a mood stabilizer. Your doctor's info may be out of date.
Have you tried Lamictal? It seems to be one of the best anticonvulsant mood-stabilizers.

My pdoc talked up Gabitril like it was the greatest thing since the proverbial sliced bread. All it did was give me insomnia. Did not help either my depression or anxiety. I think it's been over-hyped, like Neurontin, although N helps me sleep.
