Has anyone out there had any success using Abilify for it's antidepressant properties, either using Abilify by itself or combined with other meds????

Seems to work at small doses. Provides a little energy, and anti-depresses. I also take zyprexa, so a little wake up is anti-depressing.

Oh yes, I don't need an anti-d when taking Abilify. It gives me so much energy and I'm very happy. Maybe too much energy because I have insomnia b/c of it. I am normally without meds very depressive and sleep a lot. Lamictal also helped my depression immediately which was a surprise.

No, I've taken many anti-ds and many didn't work. I'm just telling you that I was surpised that abilify and lamictal worked so well after everything else failed.
My dose of abilify is only 5mg (initial dose of 10mg for a few months) and lamictal i felt a big difference only at 25mg.I take the Abilify because of psychosis (voices). I'm bipolar.

Hi hawkeye,
I took abilify and it had no antidepressant side effect for me. I am currently on geodon and lamictal with great antidepressant results. I think the lamictal is more helpful than the geodon, but it's hard to know which one is working the most.
Of course, everyone is different and abilify might help you.
Keep us posted and good luck!
