A friend of mine suffers from delusional depression that may or may not be associated with bipolar disorder. She responds very well to Risperdal.

Hi,
I have at times suffered from a psychosis that manifested itself as delusions of persecution.
Horrible! I totally understand that it gets unbearable at times.
I am on Tegretol Retard, Sulpiride and Lamictal.
I hope your meds are OK and that you're coping well.Take care,
Lyn

I'm thinking more fantastical stuff like the classic 'CIA are after me' grandiose beliefs. My experience of persecutional beliefs have involved a total breakdown of contact with reality and I have ended up sectioned as a result of my bizarre behaviour while labouring under these delusions. I think you're referring more to mild paranoia and socially phobic experiences, although not being qualified I'm not really in a good position to judge!
All the best though...Lyn

The atypicals are supposed to be good for this type of disorder. I am taking Geodon. I am BPII with a lot of paranoia and anxiety...this is helping immensely. Good luck to all.

I have also found that, apart from atypical APs, avoiding too much alcohol or coffee helps on the paranoia front. Obvious but, as far as my life is concerned, quite hard to give up.My hangovers always involve exacerbated fear and paranoia!
Also, Leopard, if you read this, I was wondering whether you had had any sleep problems on Geodon.
I am planning to switch from Sulpiride to Geodon and am worried about the insomnia as I have very disturbed sleep on the Sulpiride. I am switching due to hyperprolactinemia, interrupted sleep and weight gain.
I have read that some people get this sort of insomnia with Geodon and wondered if you had and, if so, if it went away. Thanks so much and good luck to all!

Hi.

Is amisulpride as liable to produce hyperprolactinemia as sulpiride?
Thanks.

Hi,
Apparently prolactin levels need to be checked on amisulpiride too, but it's side effect profile is gentler than sulpiride. If you're at a low dose you should be OK - well, that's my experience.Good luck!

Fortunately no sleep disturbances...maybe a little initially, but I was coming off of Effexor. I am still very impressed with Geodon...my finger's are crossed that this honeymoon will continue...I think it just might!

Brilliant! I'm so glad...Hopefully they'll be able to keep me on a low maintenance dose to keep any side effects at bay but they may put me on a medium one as i've been on quite a high dose of Sulpiride.
Hope the good stuff continues and Happy New Year!:) Lyn
