NARDIL : and No weight gain

Posted by RT on November 9, 2003, at 13:16:40

I started a low carb diet about the same time I started taking nardil. The adtkins is the one I chose. I have been on the nardil only about 5 weeks just went to 75 mg/
I have lost about 15 lbs on this diet . I think once you get all the sugar out of your system the carb cravings arent so bad. You can still eat a low carb candy bar now and then but you can eat till your full of all the items on the list. I really dont think its that hard to stick to and might be something to thing about if your gonna take nardil and are worried about the weight gain issue . Just a thought

I'd say the jury's still out on your weight loss, RT, but so far, so good. I've found that what's true for the first few months on these meds, is hardly the same a year or more down the road. Has Nardil "castrated" you?

Ace, it certainly sounds like you got it made. The women I know definitely prefer me not to be obese. In fact, it's not just the women, but everybody. Being fat and having my member shriveled up is neither my, nor my girlfriends, idea of cool. Of course, neither is laying in bed from morning 'till night. Decisions, decisions...

Nardil has been HORRIBLE for me as far as weight gain. In June they put me on it and raised the dose to 45 mg/day. In 2 weeks (yes - this is all documented) I gained 20 pounds without chainging my diet or exercise plans. I went from 240lbs to 278lbs (11-11-03). I can barely walk my knees hurt so bad. I've lived as a 150lbs. guy for most of my life. I cain't seem to get any of this weigh off. They put me on Topamax - but tnothing except cognative impairement. I have to buy new clothes for work every 2-3 weeks. It's horrible.

Plus, I have NO sex drive. NONE.

UGH....perhaps it's time to say goodbye to Nardil?
