He gives me Wellbutrin to do so, for the last two nights I thought I was going to die in my sleep. I get light headed, I don't feel all there, and I get depressed and cry and think I am going to die. No exageration, I had to convince myself the last two nights that if I was going to die, there was nothing I could do about it and it took me about two hours to fall asleep and then I had woken up every few hours anyway. I still have a hot chest and tightness in the chest are after not taking it this morning and last night, but I NEED to know, are these things from Wellbutrin? (I called the doctor and he said to stop and come in on Moday so I did but I am still worried.) They have to be, but noone else has ever said that they have the same side effects, I really hate this and am kinda scared, any suggestions?

I think it could be from the wellbutrin? Do you take any other meds? It might help to take some thing like zyprexa or some thing that helps to calm you down and sleep! I found that when I reduced the zyprexa the wellbutrin is harder to take. Also side-effects from wellbutrin are worse at the beginning!

What dose of wellbutrin are you on, the one you were on? The first few days are the worst and the dose needs to be spaced out through the day. I tried taking all the wellbutrin in the morning but got very jittery, found spacing it out was much easyer.

I am on 150mg twice a day. Is that right? All the websites I go to say 150mg once a day and sometimes less, and that is for depression. I am still all fuzzy and zoning out and I stopped taking it yesterday morning...How long does it take for this to wear off? Or is there something else wrong with me maybe? Thanks for all your help, I am going crazy.

Which wellbutrin? __ or SR or XL? Sounds like the SR if twice a day. I take 100 mg SR 2-3 times daily. I also take 5 mg zyprexa with it. I've found that the more zyprexa I take the easyer the higher dose of wellbutrin is to take. Wellbutrin is a stimulant, sort of like coffee, in the brosure they say it is similar to amphetamine, just isn't addictive. The withdraw is a little tough. I had a hard time going for less than 200 mg a day, 300 mg is a little tough. You could try taking only on dose for a while, you will still get some smoking cessation from it. I hope you didn't go up to the 300 mg form day one. You need to slowly go up in dose no faster that your body can handle. This is why I got 100 mg pills. I started with 100 mg a day for the first 4 days, then 200 mg for the next 4 days, then 300 mg after. Each time I increased the dose it was harder to handle, I also couldn't take it all at once in the morning.

Ok, doc gave me 150mg pills and told me to take two a day there was no mention of going gradually so yes, I took 300mg the first day then 300 the second day and then 150 yesterday and I am not taking them anymore, I hate them.
I would seriously rather smoke or quit on my own than feel this way. I am at work right now trying not to flip out and cry or freak out about the whole hot chest and tightness thing. I am going to call my doctor in the morning and see what he says and then I will just quit some other way, this is too much....do you have any suggestions?

Wellburtin has a short half-life, 21 hours. You will probably start feeling better tomorow, if you don't take any more.
Nicotine gum, patch, etc... thats all thats left. Its healther than smoking so you can do it as long as you want.
Save the wellbutrin it works too, you 'may' want to give the lower dose (150 mg a day) a try in a week or so when your body calms down. It with the nicotine gum works very well. Statisticly it is your best chance to quit. If you do the wellbutrin again, do it the first day of the weekend and see how you feel, if no good don't take any more and you will feel better on monday.

The gum can be done the same way as wellbutrin. smoke less and replace a cigg with a piece of gum.

I may try the gum, but I really am not certain if I even want to give it another chance I have been in weirdo world and feeling crazy for two days now....thank you for the help and I may try it again like you said in stead of too much (how I got precribed that I will never know)
Question: Will smoking while on Wellbutrin make a difference?

You can smoke on wellbutrin! I've been taking wellbutrin for 6 months now smoking the whole time. The thing I like is it realy decreases the urge to smoke. Take it for a few weeks and went from 16 a day down to 5, because I wanted too??? The whole idea behind the the stuff is gradually smoke less. I just haven't gotten passed 5-7 a day. I had good results on the gum. The problem was presure to quit the gum? My idea was too just keep chewing small pices of the gum forever, probably would have worked. You can cut the gum and it won't go bad sitting out. You may also try a 100mg WB.

Hi Sebastian,
I've read that you have been taken with success both Zyprexa and Wellbutrin together.
As i take a similar regimen to yours, i.e. Antidepressant + atypical AP (+ Lamictal in my case), i was wondering if it was anti-constructive. I mean, on one side we boost dopamine in the brain (antidepressant) and on the other side we decrease it (anti-psychotic).
I take Seroquel for my residual anxiety and insomnia due to my last bipolar depression. And it works...
Do you have any clue?

Zyprexa increases dopamine doesn't it. Wellbutrin increases norphalepanin or something. And Celexa increses serotonin right?
Clues, no.

No, Zyprexa (and all the other anti-psychotics)is an *antagonist* of dopamine at receptors D1 and D4.
>Wellbutrin increases norphalepanin or something.
More precisely catecholamines: norepinephrine and dopamine.
Well the synergy (or the anti-synergy) of the two doesn't really matter tha much because that works for me.
I was just curious.
Well, if by any chance you have something on it, that will be welcome ;-)
Thanks.

No I think it is a two for one deal. More meds the better. I don't think any of these meds counteract one anouther. At least any of the ones I ever tried in combinations. The most you can do is soften the side-effects.

but the blockage in teh limbic system is offset by the 5ht2a antagonism
so the wellbutrin is exerting it's effect to a highier degree on receptors that are not strongly blocked (D2 in the prefrontal cortex ... or mesocortical region, if you will)

Ahhh! Now that's clearer.
But it is still my understanding that there is a "dosing curve" where a high dose may be conter-productive for a non-schizophrenic person.
Nevertheless, thank you very much!
Go Seroquel Go :-)

i'm glad it helped... cuz i just re-read my message and i found it bloody complicated :)
oh well... it's a complicated thing, that ol' brain
