hi, can those of you that have been on Effexor or those who are on it currently please answer one simple question-kind of like a survey?
-Have you, in your opinion, gained any weight, bloatedness, increased appetite? If so, how much weight, and have you had any kind of cravings? and for what kinds of foods? sweets? carbs?
Thank you so much,Gal

I have gained weight since starting Effexor. However, I atrribute most of this to lack of exercise and poor diet. The Effexor, if it played any role, it was only a small one.

thanks, I hear ya. I haven't exercised in a while, but my diet has been pretty good (salmon, brown rice, fruit, water, salads, etc.) When I started the Effexor about 2 weeks ago, the past few days my appetite has soared. I'm an ice cream-aholic. I'm just hoping the Effexor doesn't cause me to gain back the 25 I lost when starting Topamax 2 months ago. As you know, weight issues are a huge concern with these meds-it's all over this forum, I appreciate your reply. What are you doing eating too much pizza ;) (joke) just trying to make you smile-that's all.
Thanks again
Take care

lol. Actually, YES. Too much pizza, fried foods, and empty calorie cokes and candies - without enough physical activity.

I knew it ;) You gotta eat healthier. It's hard though huh? All the good stuff is so fattening.
That's a given.
Take carethanks Caleb

If so, how much weight, and have you had any kind of cravings? and for what kinds of foods? sweets? carbs?I've gained 10 pounds in the two months I have been on Effexor-XR 75mg. I crave carbs and sweets almost round the clock. I get lots of exercise, and my carb cravings are especially strong after running or taking a spinning class. I now need to lose 60 pounds. Argh. I've finally decided to stop keeping stuff like Smart Start cereal, chocolate, and tortilla chips in the house. Still, I'm a good cook and almost always have the ingredients for cookies, scones, or lemon bars in the house.

Hi. Actually, Effexor has helped me control my cravings. I'm a recovering bulimic and have been on Effexor all together maybe 4 years.
Celexa was better in that way, though. When I first went on it I was bingeing every day. After about two weeks, the desire to binge just went away. Just stopped. Same with Paxil. Unfortunately I couldn't stay on either of them because of side effects.
