I'm quitting Lexapro because it's just not working after 11 weeks. Side effects still remaining are stiff neck, flat, zoned, zero emotions yuck!!! I think Forest needs to take "Well Tolerated" off of their packaging because it's BS. Anyway, thanks for letting me vent and if anyone has anything good or bad to share about Wellbutrin SR, please educate me.
Thanks

Lexapro didn't work for me either, though I didn't experience any major side effects...
Wellbutrin SR - for me, it can be an energy booster, though too high a dose can cause agitation/jitteriness (sp?). Biggest pro IMO - doesn't kill the libido for most people (so I've heard).
Unfortunately, doesn't work well for me alone - has to be combined with a traditional SSRI.
Good luck with the change.

What are you currently taking? Did you take Wellbutrin with an SSRI??

I'm CURRENTLY taking a Zoloft-Wellbutrin-Geodon-Lamictal combo, and have been for a while, though it changes fairly often once I stop doing well (which is what I'm going through now). I've taken Wellbutrin with Lexapro and with Celexa and with Paxil, I believe. At one point I was taking 150mgs 2x/day of Wellbutrin, but it was disrupting my sleep, so now I only take 150 in the a.m. Could probably benefit from more, though.

I've been on Wellbutrin SR since May of this year. I am very pleased with with med. I was unable to tolerate Celexa, Zoloft, Lexapro and Fluoxetine. Although the Fluoxetine was better than the others I still felt like a zombie. I am unable to take SSRIs because they make me feel extremely spacey, detached, unreal, and agitated.
The first week on Wellbutrin I noticed improvement with my mood. I did feel a little agitated that first week, but was able to handle it with a small dosage of Ativan. Afterward, I didn't have that jittery, panicky feeling.
Since I've increased to 275mg. I've experienced joint and muscle pains just on my left side. If you read the prescribing information sheet for Wellbutrin you will see about 2% experienced this side effect called Myalgia. It does subside.
I never experienced insomnia with Wellbutrin, but now I've noticed that I get sleepy after taking it first thing in the morning with my breakfast. This has just recently started occuring, so I'm going to switch to taking it at night.
It has helped tremendously with my appetite since I've increased to 275mg. I have to make myself eat, because I don't have an appetite which is a welcomed side effect for me since I've put on quite a bit of weight while on the SSRIs. Also at the higher dosage I do experience some nausea, but nothing to make me want to stop taking this med.
I wish you the best with Wellbutrin. Keep us posted.
God Bless

im on lexapro now its working great for me besides a slight libido issue, as on wellbutrin SR yuck. i was on that with my lexapro and i felt horrid. i got very anxious, slightly more deppresed, chest pain, bad nightmares, and really jittery. i stuck to it for about 3 weeks then i stopped taking it and felt great.

I took Wellbutrin for years. It was strong for my depression, no sexual side effects, basically SE-free compared to Effexor. It did nothing for my anxiety though. Wellbutrin is gradual. You might feel that *nothings happening*. Give it some time. in a few weeks, it'll dawn on you that you are happier than you've been in a long time, just driving your car. It's a good med.
Good luck, Kim

Don't want to frighten you but all the side effects you mentioned are the reason I quit Lexapro and I've never had to stop because of side effects especially after 11 weeks of taking one. Good luck with Lex.
