Alright, where's the Amineptine?!

Posted by KarenB on January 13, 2003, at 21:53:11

I sent my USDollars via Western Union as I have done every three months for the past year or so, to order my Amineptine - the one and only antidepressant that has ever come close to working for me. Now, I just received an e-mail stating that it is no longer available there.

Does anyone know a currently reliable source? Please, HELP!!!!!

I have no idea where to get Amineptine. I didn't even know you could get it anywhere, so I was surprised you have been getting it up to now.

If you find a source, please let me know!

Have you ever tried Amisulpride? Amineptine is a dopamine reuptake inhibitor, thus increasing dopamine. Amisulpride also increases dopamine. It might be a substitute for you, and is easy to get.

Hi -

Amineptine I think is sold in South America maybe Brazil and some others.

It was discontinued in Europe.

Amineptine is too novel, too useful, and apparently had too much "addiction potential".

Or perhaps it was too cheap and too effective.

John,

Yes, I have tried Amisulpride and I am almost sure it made me cycle. I use Sulpiride - similar but, well, not. It worked great with the Amineptine but I always knew the day would come when that option was no longer available. That day may be here.

Please don't use this site to exchange information on how to import into the US medication that hasn't been approved by the FDA:

Amineptine safe effective since 1970's

Supiride is way different that aminetpine except that both target boost in limbic dopamine.

Supiride is da blocker - aminetpine is da reuptake inhibitor (approximately).

See nomifensine for da reuptake inhibitor more likely to be around awhile.

Hello Chad.

Thanks for the tip on Nomifensine.

Yes,I know very well that a cocktail of Amineptine and Sulpiride makes no sense at all, HOWEVER, it seemed to tweak just right whatever is wrong with me, obviously somewhere in Dopamineland. It was prescribed to me in the Philippines by a young M.D. who was Bipolar herself and recognized my symptoms, which I had been treating all along as straight depression - to no avail. I started on the combo and felt fully alive, for the first time I could remember.

The Amineptine I was getting from Argentina seemed not as successful a formulation - not sure what was up with that but it was different from what I had purchased in P.I., manufactured by Servier. I don't know what they were doing but it definitely was not the same.

I will say that I am still puzzled by the "abuse potential" stigma. In the years I took it, I never exceeded the recommended 100mg 2x per day nor did I ever desire to. It was my understanding that it was an established and safe drug used for decades in Europe and throughout Asia.

Thanks again for your input.

Karen

Dr. Bob

I don't mean to offend, but why do you keep deleting posts? Several of mine have gone, and none of them had any *illegal* info in them. I think many would agree that maybe updating the Psychobabble tips page my be better spent time?

This board is supposed is to be medication orientated, to help us unfortunate people that suffer from these debilitating illness find cures. The site has become far too politically correct re having a religious board?!! I don't see you removing the many religious posts I find offensive. You no longer cater for the real needs of the people of this site.

I don't mean to 'go into one' Bob, but many of the old timers who were extremely intelligent people, and had so much to offer have been driven away.

Anyway, please don't take offence from this post. I just wanted to speak my mind.

Thanks

Gary
