Hello,
I am starting Marsilid tomorrow , Marsilid is a MAOI which belongs to same MAOI class as Nardil and Parnate (both non-selective and irreversible). I would like to know if someone has already tried this drug so that he could speak about his experience.
Best regards,
Frog

I doubt anyone reading this in the United States has ever taken this med, since it was discontinued in the early 60's here. It was the FIRST antidepressant and I'm curious to know where it is still being used. MAOI's of the same type are still used and several people here can testify to their effectiveness.Regards,
z

Yes , I was aware about the discontinuation of Marsilid in USA , I should have precised the question is aimed at people living outside USA .The reason why my pdoc has chosen Marsilid is that it is the only MAOI non-selective & irreversible available here (France) , there are other MAOI available here but they are selective and reversible and therefore less effective.

>Yes, Frog, I have come across a lot of evidence that irreversible MAO inhibitors are much more effective. It's interesting that Marsilid is the only irreversible MAOI available in France. It seems that the MAOI"s are becoming a lost art here in America, and yet the oldest one of all is still used in France.Good luck with the Marsilid,
