Yay!!! For once I can comment on the good effects of a med. I took 20mg Celexa. It did wonders. I was also on Seroquel and Lamictal too. While on Celexa, my sex drive wasn't affected, I didn't gain weight, and my depression was under control.
I lost some part of my appetite on Celexa. If you want to know anything else concerning Celexa-I'd be happy to help.
Did this help a little? I hope so.

I like Celexa. I have been taking it for 10 months, and my current dosage is 30 mg/day. It helped my depression, especially with suicidal thoughts. I think it has also made me ruminate less. It is the first antidepressant that really worked for me.
I have not gained any weight from it. It causes no sexual side effects for me. Its side effect profile is very good. I highly recommend this medication. I hope it works well for you too.

Jane, I've been on 20mg of Celexa since starting a new job in December. It worked remarkably well on my social anxiety and depression within a few days, believe it or not! However, I've an inkling that it made the other aspect of my anxiety (the physiological, CNS part) worse. For that, only Xanax helped.
I did experience a lot of leg/foot tapping for the first couple of months but this seems to have waned over the last couple of weeks.
My appetite is very poor and I've lost 5kg (14lb)since December but can't decide whether this is a side effect of the Celexa or whether it's the result of job stress (more likely).
Overall, I'm very pleased with Celexa. Hope this helps a little.

I just started Celexa yesterday and I'm having side effects... not as bad as other antidepressants I've tried though, but bad enough to keep me home and feeling sick.
--really bad muscle aches, tremors, rigidness
--lockjaw feeling, tight throat, jaw aches badly, headache I think from this, my back is now killing me, as is are my shoulders
--low blood pressure when I stand up that's pretty strong, that's what kept me on the couch today, along w. a laboured heart feeling
--very very dry eyes
--slight nausea
--slight drowsinessOddly, after one day, I'm experiencing relief to some degree already? More energy (despite not being able to use it), mind feels sharper, sex drive is back, mood feels more hopeful (I didn't cry today), and for the first time in months I was HUNGRY, I thought it was psychosomatic, being so soon, I've taken only two doses, but I'm not sure it is, because I've been REALLY down, and I've tried other AD's with no luck, and even though I'm not liking the side effects to this, I'm feeling willing to keep on if I keep feeling even this good emotionally, I think, unless the orthostatic stuff doesn't subside.
This is the end of the thread.
