Hello...
Just wondering if anyone has any experience with taking Haloperidol for a Tic Disorder. My 9 year old son was diagnosed with a Tic Disorder last week and started taking .25mg of Haloperidol before bedtime. It might be working a little bit, but will probably need to raise his dose. The doc wanted to start REALLY low to get the lowest possible dose that will help the tics. Any advise would be GREATLY appreciated!

Hi:I haven't taken Haldol, but know quite a bit about it. It sounds like your child's Dr. is doing the right and smart thing using the small doses of the drug, as it is very potent. It may take awhile for some of the changes in the brain to take place until the tics are under control. So he may hold at that dose for awhile. The reason the med is used is because I think it is one of very few that can control tics. But, there are a couple of other meds too if this one doesn't work.
Keep us posted...
Best,
Jay
