I can't stand the way it makes me feel. I have been on it for 2 weeks and I constantly feel drugged. I also take 25mg. of Seroquel and thought that could be the problem so I cut down to 12.5mg. at bedtime and still feel like crap. I am really disappointed because I had such high hopes for this but I went from 15mg. to 7.5mg. back to 15mg. every other day and whatever way I take it I still feel tired all of the time. But not like I can fall asleep tired just dizzy no energy tired. Has anyone else stopped this because of the same feelings. Has anyone gotten past this with this drug, and if so how long did it take.

Hi Whitman. I am sorry to hear about you feeling so tired. I've had that same experience with another med and it feels just awful. Hang in there.
I've been on Abilify 7.5mg for 9 days now. Other than some choppy sleep the first few nights and some restlessness in the morning, I haven't had any tiredness from this med. I am waiting out the akathesia in hopes of it going away. So far it has not, but I need to give it more time.
I like to stay on a med for a few months to see if it truly is working, unless the side effects are too uncomfortable. I'll keep you posted. No tiredness at all though.

Did you have the tiredness from it or was another side affect that is causing you to stop it?
I had such high hopes for it because some other people on this site had such good results from it with minimal side affects. Someone called "user friendly" So I hoped it would be the one that would finally work for me. Back to square one.

i just want to say give these meds more than 2 weeks of a try trust me i wanted to stop a few meds for feeling bad, but i stuck it out and they worked ,im just saying give it 6-8 weeks then judge it,

You may not be giving yourself a fair try at Abilify. It very well could be the combined effects of the Seroquel and the Abilify that is making you feel tired. Unfortuneately, it could be weeks after you stop taking it that the long-term effects of the Seroquel will subside. This is one of the most frustrating aspects of trying to find the right drug, or drug combo that fits each of our particular chemistry-- the long period of time it can take for a new drug to kick-in and for an old drug to wash-out.

To me if after 2 weeks you are still feeling so tired on a med that you can barely function it probably will not get any better. I am hoping somebody here will tell me that they had the same problem and it went away in a reasonable amount of time. I know everybody has different responses to meds, but I have 2 small children and can't keep going on like this, I don't even feel safe driving them around.

When I talked to my pdoc before it came out, he said it was just like the other atypicals accept that it had less side effects. I guess since the others didn't help much I didn't expect much from ABILIFY. Had you read that people were getting good effects even when the other atypicals didn't work? I really didn't try it that thoroughly. When my samples ran out I never got the prescription filled, so maybe it would have worked at higher dose or longer period. I didn't have any negative side effects from it. I only got up to 15mg a day. Do you know the normal good daily dose?

I've taken other APs and the tiredness usually subsides after you adapt to a certain dosage after a couple of days. Otherwise take it at night.

I've been on abilify 15 mg every day since November, this is the only atpical that does make me sleepy or foggy. But the SLEEP or lack of it is my only problem. It helps to have a good psych that keeps trying to fine tune your meds. I have a good one. I am fortunate.

I geusse a good normal daily dose would be 15-20mg. Other people were saying that it helped them do things that people otherwise take for granted laundrey, showering etc. I do think that it did help give me some motivation at first, but now I feel so tired and rundown that it isn't worth it. I decided to take 7.5mg. every other day until I see my pdoc next week. You can get away with every other day because it has something like a 76 hr. half life. From what I read here others were benefiting from this when other AP's failed or gave bad side affects.
