I need to get off risperdal because I gained 60 pounds. Am trying geodon but it seems to be making me worse not better. Next step will be trying seroquel which my pdoc assures me is weight neutral but is it? I can't afford to gain any more weight.

Babs,
My wife switched from Risperdal to Seroquel and started to lose weight rapidly. She was also taking Wellbutrin at the time, which may have something to do with it. Unfortunately, the Seroquel did not control the psychosis, so she had to go back onto the Risperdal.

Seroquel has been a WONDER DRUG for me! I haven't gained any weight on it, and I have absolutely no side effects. I take it for Bipolar and find that it is a great mood stabilizer and anxiolytic. I take mine at night, and it knocks me right out, but unlike other sedatives I have taken, I actually feel refreshed when I wake up in the morning. And, the anti-anxitey properties last all day without causing daytime sedation or grogginess.I would definitely recommend that you give Seroquel a try!

That's so good to hear! I love the risperdal but the weight gain is a bit much! I just had a REALLY bad experience trying to switch to geodon- extremely anxious and obsessive as well as flu symptoms and horrible stomach distress. Maybe seroquel will be the ticket!
