how are they for inducing mania?
(i am wondering if the 5HT2A antagonism means they're less likely to cause mania/provide mood stability)

(BPAD type II). Although, my pdoc added a low dose Eskalith, 450mg qd it continued. We have gradually lowered the dose 45-30-currently 15mg and I can progressively see my aggitated mood improving the lower we go. hope this helps.

I've tried both of these meds. Remeron did not induce any mania. Serzone actually caused me to become more depressed, but only after first sending me into a brief euphoric phase that could easily have been a shade of mania.
Neither one of these meds were helpful to me, and my doc doesn't have much luck with them either. He just goes straight to an SSRI, usually Prozac, plus Zyprexa. He has a lot of luck with that. I'm sure Serzone and Remeron are good for some people, but not as many as other meds.

If you are having apathy probs. from your Zyprexa I'm not sure you will be very happy with them. I didn't have any problems with hypomania, but Remeron (Serzone was OK), triggered some hostility. Serzone worked really well to settle down restlessness and anticipatory anxiety for me, however. If you aren't having any anxiety hassles, I doubt if you would like either one much.----Mitch

Like the rest, except Wellbutin. 5HT2A antagonism make them more effective, not less likely to cause mood swings.
