I'm looking for opinions. My husband has a high blood pressure and takes Norvasc and Zestril for that. He took 10 mg Celexa for 2 days. He got the anxiety attack with the chest tightness, heavy breathing and sweating.
He never suffered from anxiety before, and took only small amount of Sam-e for depression when under stress a few times before. We tappered the anxiety with Lorazepam, but the symptoms of anxiety persisted the next day.
I also know that wasn't any drug interaction neither. I guess Celexa was a wrong choice. But he told me he had the similar symptoms like that few times before.
Does it mean he is susceptible to anxiety, or was it just a bad body reaction?
He is very concern. Any similar experiences?Anna P.

It's a second day after stopping Celexa, and my husband still have anxiety symptoms. He takes Lorazepam to taper it down.
How lond does Celexa stay in your body? How long such a post drug anxiety can continue?

Celexa has a half life of about 36 hours but,
should not be effecting one much after about 24.Celexa is an antidepressant that is sometimes used for anxiety disorders. In some cases they can cause anxiety as a start up effect.
Generally Celexa is not taken for anxiety on
an as-needed basis. It usually takes a few days for it to have an antianxiety effect.
Was he taking SAM-e at the same time as the celexa. If so, this may have caused the anxiety interaction.Linakdge

No, he wasn't taking Sam-e at the same time. He started to take Celexa for depression, but he got pretty bad axiety attack after two days of taking it.
