I pray that you might continue to receive comfort from the Spirit and your Guardian Angel. I pray you will have the strength and courage to endure what lies ahead and that you will know in your mind and your heart how to tackle the large project of sorting through your mother's things. I pray there will be no dissention or contention in your family as you do so. If possible I pray that as you seek to understand your mother's desires they will be made known to you, and that you might acknowledge her presence and know she lives on in spirit to watch over and support you in her love. I pray that you might remember your mother fondly, and as good memories surface, you will write them down, that her memory will live on in your words. I add to this prayer the most wonderful imaginings of your heart, and I pray that you might feel peace and comfort as you read these words, knowing your God loves you and cares about your pain. I care. Amen.

Hi BarbaraCat,

When I read your post, my whole body was tingling. The only time I ever get this feeling is when I really feel something spiritual is involved. I don't even know how to explain it, it sounds stupid to me even writing it because I'm not even a really religious person (although I do believe in God).

I'm making myself write this to you anyway though because I truly believe there is something to the feeling I get and I feel what you experienced (the Guardian Angel) was real and that your mom is with you.

> Dear Folks,
> I'm posting in on this board rather than Social, since I know more of you here, but if Dr. Bob wants to move it, go ahead. I've just had a terrible shock and need your good thoughts. My 84 year old Mom was struck by a car as she was walking home from the store last Monday and taken to the hospital with a fractured leg, seemed to be doing fine. Just this morning she had a blood clot to her heart and died. It was always hard for me and my brother living on the West coast while she insisted on living back in Pennsylvania, but she was a vibrant, happy, strong little lady in excellent health and to have her taken like this is very hard. I had many premonitions for a few months of this happening, almost waiting and expecting to hear about something, strange how these things happen. I also have been 'visited' in my heart many times by my Guardian Angel over the past few weeks, really and truly, as though saying 'The Light of Spirit is with you, be strong'. I was also in the hospital myself with heart and arm pain the week before, although all turned out OK, but it was as though in preparation for something about to happen.
>
> I'm doing OK now, I'm a strong and resilient person, although when I get back to her home and have to do the funeral thing and pack up the house(not alone, thankfully. My husband, brother and sister-in-law also), I can't say how well I'll be holding up. So I ask you for your prayers if that is your way, or for lending me some strength whatever way you feel is best. I've come to love you folks and want to all to know. It's the kind of thing that ends up really needing to be shared during times like these. Love to you all, BarbaraCat

I have faith you will be OK and will have the strength to do what you need to do. I helped my Mom through all of the funeral things when my Dad died of cancer. My Mom is in her 70's, so I can relate. A 22-year old friend of mine just found out her Dad had terminal liver cancer and she is just now trying to get to know her father (who she had not seen since she was six years old due to a divorce).

God bless

Barbaracat, I'm sorry, I can understand completely what you're going through. I lost my Mom to breast cancer when I was just 16. It's the most horrible experience that anybody can ever go through knowing that you'll never see the person that brought you into this world, again, in this world. On the good side of things, you had a long life with her. You'll have a lot of memories. And your Mom lived a long and full life and managed to pass out in a very quick period instead of suffering for months on end. I don't mean for that to sound insensitive, but after seeing as much death as I have, if it's good and quick, I'm happy. After all, death is inevitable.

However, I don't believe that death is really the end to anything. I believe that the reason we're put here on this Earth in the first place is to see how strong we are. How well we'd manage up to the next phase in our lives. We're put through certain amounts of pain just to see if we can tolerate it, and you know, in most cases, the pain that you do go through, if and when you're able to deal with it, actually helps you become a better person.

And, your Mom is only gone from you in the physical sense. It's been 8 years now that mine has been gone and I can still feel her here with me. Sometimes it's really strong... like you just have that vibe that she's around somewhere close... Like you said about your Guardian Angel, I believe my Mom is mine, and I never could have made it through everything that happened since she has passed on without her watching over me.

I'm Bi-Polar and now even during my worst depressions, when you get those suicidal thoughts for no reason at all, while they get stronger, there's another thought that always enters my head... It's her telling me that she's with me and I have to keep going and that at the end of this road, once my life has ended, she'll be waiting for me. And, besides... she's no longer got that old body to lugg around... she's free now. Whenever I've seen my Moms in my dreams or anything, and God, could I write a book about those... VERY vivid, like nothing compared to the side effects of any of these medications.... she's got her long black hair back and is in perfect health and incredibly happy.

So yeah, I'll pray to my Moms that she'll help your Mom find her way through to the other side without too much confusion, and I'll pray for you that you won't let this affect you too strongly... she had a very long and productive life, and when it's your time to go, it's just your time...

BarbaraCat,

I'm so sorry for your loss. You are in my thoughts and prayers. May you find strength and comfort from family and friends. Here is a Native American prayer for you.

I give you this one thought to keep
I am with you still, I do not sleep
I am a thousand winds that blow
I am the diamond glints on snow
I am the sunlight on ripened grain
I am a gentle autum rain
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight
I am the soft stars that shine at night
Do not think of me as gone
For I am with you in each new dawn

Laura.

So sorry about your loss. Praying for you. (nm)

Thank you more than you can know for your loving words and thoughts. They are supporting me through this sad time. So many beautiful prayers, sharings, oh, Thank you! Krysti's 'tingly' feeling of something deeply spiritual happening is right-on. It continues and is reaffirming my trust in a Loving Light and Presence, call it what you will, that holds and sustains us ALL through the darkness of our lives. We'll be travelling back to Philadelphia Sunday and gone the week, the services will be Thursday and Friday, just so you'll know. Be good to yourselves and to your loved ones. I think that's the only real reason we're here and all that matters in the end. - Love, BarbaraCat

Barbara,

I remember corresponding with you on a Remeron thread. At that time you explained to me the many things occuring in your life that were causing you much anxiety. My jaw drops as I read of the tragic loss of your mom.

I too believe in God, His Holy Spirit, and the very active role that angels play in our personal, day-to-day life. I pray that God will send His Holy Spirit to comfort you, to lift you up and sustain you and your family through this time of great sadness.

Sincerely,
Lynda
