What can I expect from Nardil?

Posted by comftnumb on November 29, 2002, at 20:49:52

Nardil will be replacing Effexor and Wellbutrin for me. the Effexor/Wellbutrin combo has been effective for both my depression and to some extent my social anxiety. But I think Nardil is worth a try, so i'm switching with the blessings of my doc. Any personal experiences so I can know what to expect?

I am also interested in the "expectations" since I will be starting Nardil tomorrow.

From reading several hundred posts, the trial and error approach continues to dominate!

Most experts agree that Nardil is by far the most potent medication for a mix of social anxiety and depression. This has been shown in double blinded studies, that the response to Nardil is superb relative to other medications. Unforunately, nardil does have its share of side effects ... the diet being the least difficult for me. The hard part was the massive weight gain, complete sexual dysfunction, insomnia and memory difficulties. I thought the diet was actually fairly healthly.

All in all, Nardil is a wonderful medication and often helps those who find no relief from the "newer antidepressants".

Take Care,

Jumpy

I've had this song going though my head for the last two days.

It speaks to me. :)

I would really appreciate hearing how the Nardil trial goes for anyone just starting it. I plan to start on it soon-- my doctor really wants me to go on MAOI's for TRD. (I tried Moclobemide and didn't like it.) I've been scared off from Nardil and Parnate because of the diet mostly, but insufferable depression is changing my mind--as well as good reviews from people on this board. Thanks.

kara

I should've made it clear that my post was not to be taken seriously. I tried to relay my intention with the smiley symbol. The post was aimed specifically at comftnumb and linkadge who both referred to Pink Floyd in their previous posts.

I apologise if you took my post seriously and I can assure you that it was not my intention to "dupe" you or anyone else or to make anyone feel silly for not understanding the intention of my post.

You've actually got me all worried now that even the Pink Floyd fans on this board may have missed the point!

keep well

You did great. I'm just glad you didn't take anything to heart.

I actually had a link to what all the different symbols and abbreviations on the Net meant but I can't seem to find it at the moment!!

For example:

:) = smiley symbol
;) = winking
:( = sad
:0 = surprised
lol = laughs out loud
rolf = rolling on the floor laughing

and so on. There are literally dozens and dozens of these little abbreviations and symbols. Maybe others can help with a link that explains all these symbols.

regards
