Hi,
I´m soon going to see my pdoc and I wonder if there is a med that can help me get up in the morning. I currently take 15mg Remeron at bedtime and 2mg Clonazepam in the morning.
I have several alarm clocks set for a time in the morning with close intervals but often I can´t even remember I´ve switched them off.. I need some advises before I meet my pdoc.thanks,

You might try raising the Remeron to 30 mg as it's less sedating at higher doses. I'm on 30 and have no problems getting up, wake up refreshed and rested. I am also taking clonazepam as well.

Hi,
that is worth trying. I´ve been on 30mg before, about two years ago and I started to get problems with gastric acid, so I gained weight because of my increased apetite. But maybe it´s time to switch back to 30mg again. Thanks for helping. So we are at the same meds, do you also suffer from depression, panic disorder and social phobia/anxiety?

I had similar problems with Remeron. It was to the point that I *would* wake up and put a cofee mug in the microwave and forget it and then wander around for ten minutes or more trying to find my coffee cup! You might try taking an "activating" AD with the Remeron at bedtime like Wellbutrin SR. Maybe about the time you are ready to get up the WB would be enough of a kick to get you out of the bed.

Hi Tensor;
Yes I also suffer from severe anxiety and panic disorder with my depressions. I have been on a few anti-d's over the past 14 yrs and have found Remeron to be one of the better ones. I have been on Anafranil, Prozac, Paxil with Xanax, Effexor with Xanax, Amitriptyline with Risperdal and then to Remeron with Nozinan, the Nozinan was dropped after a few months and the Clonazepam added. I'm quite happy with this combo, I've been on it 10 mos now, it lifted me out of a two year depressive episode which left me on the sofa 24/7. I have a life again, am working again and am feeling pretty well normal for the most part. Stay well...

I have very bad problems with getting up in the morning. I usually have anxiety about my alarm going off - but it's gotten to the point where I apparently shut it out and/or turn it off instead of pushing the sleep button. I'm constantly late to work. Even though I'm on a semi-hefty dose of Dexedrine - it takes forever for the fog to clear. I finally wake up about 5pm (from the fog) and them am rearin' to go at night which totally screws up everything.
Remeron made me very sleepy and gave me nightmares. Taking a depressant like klonopin in the morning can't really help your situation - but maybe it doesn't sedate you? Anyway, I wish i could give you some helpful advice.......
good luck

Until doctors find a med that tells our circadian rythms to work on a 24 hour clock instead of a 25 hour clock (and no one knows why it does that) very few of us get to wake up in the morning feeling rested when we continue a consistent sleep schedule.
It's something that happens. Yeah, and having ADD and anxiety and feeling tired in the morning, that's just a psychopharmaceutical comic strip waiting to happen.
"Okay, it's time to wake up- let's throw some Dexedrine, oh wait, that makes my heart pound too much- oh, let's try the adderall today- oh wait, that'll make me anxious- let's try the ritalin- oh wait, that won't keep me up- okay, let's settle with dexedrine, add a beta blocker for my heart pounding, and then throw in Neurontin (downer) to keep me calm. Oh wait- the Neurontin will put me to sleep- better increase the dexedrine dosage- oh wait- no Vitamin C, it'll kill the dexedrine's absorption, sorry OJ- oh wait- let's have severe dry mouth because the dexedrine requires a beta blocker which doesn't make friends with my salagen- oh wait, don't forget boring old Effexor, he's still growing up and waiting to do his job in a month or two.
Yeah, when your antidepressants go to preschool in your mind, something should tell you you're taking too many meds.
I'm like this close to dropping them all. Let me be tired in the morning when I wake up, and then again at 3 o'clock lull time like everyone else. Let me be too anxious not to be a social super hero in class today. Let me fall asleep in class and then not know why I can't do the same at midnight later that day. Let me get dry mouth at all instead of popping Salagens every hour (when they're prescribed 3x/day).
Let me not be cured, and maybe my problems will go away...

Is it more than an hour? Mine kicks in in like 30 min. The first day I took it, it made me feel calm, very nice. (15mg/ at once).
Now, same dose, all it does is keep me awake, but not even help me concentrate. Of course being awake is definitely attractive in any med... I still want it to give me the nice feeling again : )
And while we're talking about taking Dexedrine in the morning, am I the only one who has it force me to suddenly process huge amounts of waste within 10 minutes and then expunge said waste to a toilet...? This must have huge potential to a GI doc if my effect isn't paradoxial.
I heard methamphetamine slows down the bowels, so this appears to do the reverse... I don't know, it's just weird how it does that, it freaks me out how it can speed up something like that up so quickly... what else does it do to my insides? I bet it likes to play ping pong.
This is the end of the thread.
