Hi everyone,
This is not for my case (i take the miracle
drug lithium - just terrified about kidneys
all the time :-);it's about tricyclics: is it possible that
tricylic ADs can "poop" out or lose their
strength when taken over a long period of
time - say 15 yrs? ( i suppose so many other
intervening factors could be involved), but in
itself, is this a possibity in your experience? Thanks

Poop-out is a really variable thing; some people can take Drug X for many years and it still works, for others it poops out after a year or two. But I have heard a couple reports of tricyclic poop-out. I don't know how common it is compared with SSRI poop-out, because tricyclics are so rarely used these days.
Re lithium: are you getting your serum Li+ and electrolyte levels checked regularly? If so, I'd say that you're fine: impaired renal functioning should be reversible by going off the lithium. (Of course, it would mean you'd have to find a different medication.)
