Hi! I've been dealing with something really weird now for a few weeks and I don't know the cause of it.
My brain 'vibrates' when I move, bend, look up or turn my head or at least that's what it feels like. With that comes the feeling of severe light-headedness and feeling like I might pass out.
This has been going on for several weeks now. I'm taking 267.5mg of Effexor XR and haven't had any med changes for several months.
Side effect, anxiety, or what???
Desperately looking for some answers.

that sounds quite frightnening..well it would frighten me anyway...
sounds like the "brainstorm" effect many people get with effexor....although it reminds me more of a physical problem of the scalp muscle tensions I get when I bend my head..
its just a theory but when you move your head you demand a great deal more processing power as you go from static processing to spatial ...
does the vibration feel like its coming from inside the brain or from the scalp ?
by the way thats a hell of a load of effexor you take..I know americans take risks with drugs...and I do myself...but..maybe you need to consider trying something else..
that not a sign of getting healthy

position, then it may be something called "postural hypotension".
Give your doc a call and let him know whats up.In the mean time don't make any sudden jerking movements.
Remember the old joke:
Patient: "Doc my elbow hurts when I do this. What should I do?"
Doctor: "Don't do that".Best Regards,
John

Effexor is not quite as well known for it if memory serves me correct
Some of the older tricyclics are more notorious as well as the MAOI inhibitors.Posural hypotension generally has to do with a temporary drop in blood pressure when your body changes from a
horizontal to a vertical position. This can lead to dizziness and a feeling like you
may faint. But again, check with your doc, I'm just shooting from the hip here.

Angel Girl, Could it be that you are experiencing vertigo. From www.dictionary.com vertigo iso "Dizziness or swimming of the head; an affection of the head in which objects, though stationary, appear to move in various directions, and the person affected finds it difficult to maintain an erect posture". Vertigo is a known side-effect of Effexor and you are getting up to large dosage. Perhaps a reduction in dose would help? Are you taking Effexor or Effexor XR? I am taking XR myself. The XR may give a different dose (time release).

Are there some new Effexor dosing criteria I don't know about?
This is all over the board today. . .
Last time I looked, 325mg was about where Effexor's AD effects begin, and 425mg the start of it's dopaminergic effects. ..
