Am I going to have a stroke if I go running while on my Adderall? I was already getting severe excersise migraines when I'd excersise, but Imatrex made me sick. Is there a connection? Am I going to bust a vessle up there? I need to get off the couch and into the gym, but not if it's going to turn me into Kirk Douglas.

You should be fine unless you had abnormally high blood pressure to begin with. Athletes often abuse amphetamines because they increase endurance & strength. (In the 1970s NFL teams handed out amphetamines to their players like it was candy). Adderall, Dexedrine or other amphetamines are much safer than taking ephedra or ephedrine & then running- ephedra/ephedrine raise the blood pressure much more than even methamphetamine (Desoxyn)!

MB, do you get these headaches from running or other impact exercise? Or do you get them with any exercise that raises your heart beat & respiration rate?
I know that any exercise, sports that cause a jolt or impact will give me headaches. Try power walking if that's the case for you too. It's a very smooth motion & is more cardiovascular than jogging is.
Even when my head was thumping so bad that I swore it felt like it would burst, when my blood pressure was taken, it was always in my normal, slightly low level. I have no idea why it felt like there was so much pressure in my head.

I'm prone to migraines and have the same problem. It's a trigger; perhaps it may have something to do with oxygen intake. I'm not sure, but it's possible.

************************************************Have you had high blood pressure in the past? Do you have it now? Have you taken your blood pressure both on and off Adderall? Why don't you have your doctor monitor it, and also look into buying a home blood pressure monitor. The old fashioned manual ones are supposed to be the most accurate, but you have to teach yourself how to use it (it's not hard to learn). The digital automatic ones are more expensive, but a little easier and quicker to use. I heard that the Omron automatic ones are good. Look in Consumer Reports for home BP monitor ratings. That way, you can check your BP yourself and rest assured.

> MBHey there,
I used to get headaches in the morning after I took my Adderall dose (when I was taking it), especially if I jumped on the stairmaster. The pharmacist told me to do my cardiovascular workout first thing in the morning and then take my Adderall dose immediately after to help prevent the bloodpressure spike during the exercise. BTW, were the headaches all along the *back* of your head? (that's where mine were)

If you take it recreationally, the initial stimulant effects will be be potentially dangerous. But once you get used to it, it won't be a problem. I bike ride 10 miles a day at least, to and from school, and do about 50 push ups and and pull ups a day too. I do free weights as well, but nothing hard core like bench pressing. It will probably lessen your risk of a stroke by strengthening your heart and ultimately decreasing blood pressure.

Yeah, ephedrine is bad news. I can't believe that stuff is legal and meth is not. I take a ripped fuel and my heart rate REALLY jumps. But whatever. Reactionary government. People abused meth for days BECAUSE it doesn't cause massive increases in blood pressure and heart rate.

No, my headaches are all accross the entire inside of my head, sometimes there's nausea involved and usually weird spaciness and "auras" out of the corners of my eyes. Bright light makes me sick when I have them.MB

Wow, that really sounds like the "seizure-like" stuff your current pdoc is trying to treat. FWIW, I got weird squiggly dark artifacts in my vision on higher dose Wellbutrin. It was like I had higher pressure in my eyes. Have you ever rubbed your eyes real hard and seen stuff like that? That's what it was like-I also noticed on higher dose Depakote (don't know why). Maybe it is increased intraocular pressure. Might want to get a glaucoma test-who knows?Mitch

You've probably already thought of this... Do you drink enough water?
