Hi,
Tea and other caffeinated drinks can heighten anxiety and being anxious can make depression worse. I would tend to drink more herbal teas like camomile, which is soothing.
Take Care

hi adamie,
it's me again. Just a note that -- man, do I struggle with this one! I love my coffee in the morning and tea in the afternoon, but know it contributes to anxiety. I'm not much help here ... but I've asked the same question myself!-cindy

for me it is. It does not makes me anxious, but when I drink some, it "lifts" my depression for a _short_ time, followed by a down ("more down than before").
My explanation: caffeine speeds up the metabolism of sugar, so therefor more sugar than normal gets consumed by the cells, which leads after some time to a shortage of "energy", because there is not unlimited usable sugar left in the body.
I reduced my coffee drinking. I cant let my fingers from it.
my Doc told me to avoid caffeine when taking medications (there are indeed some interactions)
